About this property

This attractive, stone and slate cottage lies in the heart of Staveley, a thriving village that is perfectly placed for touring the Lake District. Boasting a contemporary flair with an open-plan aspect, Hugill Cottage is a fabulous base for families or groups of six eager to uncover this splendid region. Internally, the owner has provided care and attention to detail, offering a spacious and well balanced living space for 21st century living whilst retaining the charm and character of its period origins, conveyed through the sash windows, original pine doors and architraves and slate fireplace. The downstairs is entirely comprised of the open plan living area, where you can sink into the sumptuous settees and settle down for a quiet night browsing the Smart TV. The contemporary kitchen is finished to a high standard with glossy white units and sleek worksurfaces, along with all the essential appliances to whip up tasty meals. Set the mood by lighting the woodburning stove and prepare the dining table for a delicious feast, before toasting to a long-awaited getaway to the Lakelands. Throw open the bi-fold doors to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living space, perfect for alfresco dining or an evening drink. Upstairs houses the bedrooms, including the master with sumptuous super-king-size bed and contemporary en-suite shower room, while there is also a double and twin boasting pleasant views across the village to the open fells. Each bedroom has been presented in neutral hues and soft furnishings, while there is also a family bathroom with attractive tiled flooring and down lights, creating a lovely spot to start the day. The village of Staveley enjoys a thriving community with a variety of shops, a post office, churches, a pub and the ever-popular mill yard with its shops, Wheelbase and Wilf's café and the Hawskhead Brewery, where you can sample a range of award-wining beers. The River Kent passes through the village from the Kentmere Valley, leading walkers to Mardale which is popular with cyclists. Venture to the town of Kendal and expect a range of independent retailers, well-established restaurants and bars to enjoy, along with a selection of museums and the Kendal Arts Centre where you can catch various live performances.

Local train and bus services give access within 10 minutes to Windermere & Kendal. Alternatively, head in the opposite direction to the beautiful Lake Windermere, providing idyllic cruises onboard the iconic Steamers, or pop over to the town of Ambleside and enjoy an afternoon of exploring. With all this and plenty much more within easy reach, Hugill Cottage provides an excellent base for a Lake District getaway, all-year-round.

Staveley is nestled on the eastern fringes of the Lake District and provides easy access to the whole region, particularly Windermere and Kendal, which are under five miles away. Staveley is an ideal base for walkers, with easy access to the fells, including the Kentmere Horseshoe. The village itself is home to some good amenities, including a convenience store and pub, along with attractions such as the Staveley Mill Yard is a former wood turning mill at the heart of the village.

Lovely little pubs in Staveley itself and 5 minutes walking distance. Little spar shop for essentials and a pharmacy opposite side of the road. Inside the cottage was everything you need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay, we will definitely be coming back.
