In the heart of the Lake District National Park, the twin towns of Bowness and Windermere have something for everyone. Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness offers boat trips to Brockhole, Ambleside, and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). It's 1.5 miles to Beatrix Potter's World and the Old Laundry Theatre Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright got his ideas for his famous guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk away. The historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside, and Troutbeck are all within easy driving distance. Watersports are also available at marine centres along the lake for the more active.

    A short walk from Bowness was great for visiting the local pubs, cafes and shops. The house itself was perfect for 8 adults with everything you could need and with amazing views of the lakes. Couldn't recommend Brantlea enough and hope to return there soon

    Location also excellent, with 5 mins walk into Bowness Centre, although very steep access drive leading up to the property especially with a pram and small children Overall, excellent home & excellent stay

    The steep garden won’t appeal to everyone but the view and the hot tub facilities at the top are definitely worth it. The property is in a quiet position at the end of a cul de sac so benefits from no passing traffic . We had a fantastic stay.
