About this property

Ellerthwaite House is a beautiful Victorian semi-detached home, built in Lakeland stone, and beautifully renovated. It is just a short 5 minute stroll from Windermere village where you will find a great mixture of bars, restaurants and cafes, along with a variety of unique little shops, galleries and boutiques. This beautiful house has been finished to a very high standard, with typical Victorian high ceilings, bay windows and original features. Coupled with a wood-burning stove, it’s both cosy and elegant. A lovely mile and a half walk downhill takes you to Bowness-on-Windermere, the sophisticated lakeshore village, nestling on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and alive cruises, boat hire, and more fabulous restaurants, bars and shops. There is a bus back if you need one! The house has been tastefully finished by the owners to a very high standard and has been well thought out with little touches here and there to make your stay very special. As well as all the attention to detail inside, there is a private courtyard garden with table & chairs, for outdoor eating al fresco. Couples, families or groups of friends will find plenty of evening venues to explore and families can take their pick from a range of attractions in Bowness; mini golf on the Glebe, the famous World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, the Royalty Cinema and the Old Laundry Theatre.

Enjoying the wider Lake District is simple and easy with Windermere as your starting point - sat on the famously scenic A591,head out to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. It's a breeze to branch off and explore Ullswater, via the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, or Langdale, Hawkshead and Coniston Water.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

Excellent location. Cleanliness outstanding. Very comfortable. Only a couple of things the hot water was very very hot coming out of upstairs and kitchen taps. Need to be aware. Also central light in dining room did not work. Other than that a fabulous property to stay in

Ellerthwaite House is exceptionally clean, comfortable yet very spacious and is fully stocked throughout the house with anything you could possibly need (& all very high quality products) I would defiantly recommend this property and will certainly be returning again in the future.
