Old Peat Cottage has received mixed feedback, with guests praising its cosy atmosphere, beautiful decor, and suitability for pets. Its location offers easy access to Lake District attractions and provides a peaceful countryside experience. However, some guests have raised concerns about dampness, maintenance issues, and the challenging nature of the stairs.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews indicate significant cleanliness issues, including dampness, mould, and encounters with slugs. Some guests found the property well-cleaned, but the negative experiences heavily impact the score.

The cottage is appreciated for its peaceful countryside setting and proximity to Lake District attractions. However, some guests had difficulty locating the property, slightly affecting the score.

Guests have reported the cottage as cosy and the bed comfortable, but issues with a cold and damp environment, hard seating, and a tiny shower room have been noted, reducing the comfort level.

While the cottage is described as well-equipped by some, several guests have reported on the lack of heating, overgrown garden, and poor maintenance of facilities, leading to a lower score.

There is no consistent mention of welcome gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, and as such, it is not possible to accurately score this category.

Well equipped, tastefully decorated and a very comfy bed. What a lovely touch that a box of shortbread, a Terry's Chocolate Orange and breadsticks were left out for our arrival. Very much appreciated with a mug of tea after a long journey. We will be back again. Thank you.

Ran out of hot water while showering. Where to park needs to be clearer. Garden is mentioned in the listing as a selling point but is majorly overgrown so should be maintained. Asked to strip bed covers before leaving but told to leave pillow protectors and mattress protectors on so no idea when they were last changed (they were stained as was the duvet) The stairs need to be pictured in the listing with a clear description as not everyone would manage going up and down safely (steep and narrow)

Beautiful location with easy access to several locations around the Lake District, amazing views from the cottage, very quirky interior with paddle stairs which we loved. Bed was lovely and comfortable! Would highly recommend
