Venture out to explore the village of Chapel Stile and you'll find a lovely village supermarket to stock up on all of your necessities, the Wainwrights' Inn pub for a delicious meal or to take part in one of their fun quiz nights, and why not take a stroll and a picnic by the stream? Head to the town of Ambleside and hike up to Stock Ghyll Force for stunning views of a waterfall, visit Armitt Library & Museum Centre for a taste of history and tuck into a mouthwatering lakeside dinner at Blue Smoke on the Bay. Take a day trip to Bowness-on-Windermere grab some lunch at Boaters Bar with its terrace offering breathtaking views of Lake Windermere, take the children to visit Peter Rabbit and the rest of his friends at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, and if the weather allows go for a swim in the lake. A delightful, rural village nestled right in the heart of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Chapel Stile is an excellent hidden gem, set at the bottom of a stunning valley, flanked on one side by the River Brathay, surrounded by incredible scenery and filled with wonderful slate and stone buildings. The village offers a traditional church from the mid 1800's as well as a café, a pub and a village shop that has stood for well over 100 years. Chapel Stile is a great base for exploring this National Park, with easy access to a number of sights and fells worth visiting. You must go to the lovely neighbouring village of Elterwater and stand on the Skelwith Bridge and simply take in the views. Nearby are the fantastic Lake District towns of Ambleside and Kendal are withing a short driving distance, offering excellent views, buildings and so much to do. For you outdoors people, make sure you visit Bowness-on-Windermere, with its incredible lake activities and so much to do; it's perfect for families.
