About this property

Located in the historically rich village of Castle Acre, Flint House derives it name from the local Norfolk material it is built from. Beautifully traditional on the outside, this hideaway has been thoughtfully curated to feel modern, bright and fresh on the inside, presenting a welcoming and comfortable home from home situated right in the epicentre of the fascinating local history.

Comfortably furnished and very well-equipped throughout, Flint House is delightfully practical and much-loved detached property. The inviting sitting room features ample sumptuous seating around a multi-fuel stove that adds extra warmth and ambience for chilly winter evenings. The sunken dining room is a great social space for sharing conversation, games and meal times. Plenty of worktop space is available in the kitchen, which also hosts a breakfast table. Upstairs, all three bedrooms boast extensive views of the peaceful village, atmospheric castle ruins, or surrounding valley meadows. A king-size bed is presented in the master bedroom, with a double bed and twin beds in the others. Outside, there is a lawned area with outdoor furniture and a barbecue, plus the added bonus of a secure garage for bikes, golf clubs, or other outdoor gear.

Castle Acre village boasts vast historic interest with a castle, priory and the Peddars Way pilgrimage path passing right through. There’s a good pub, The Ostrich, and Whittles cafe, both just a 3-minute walk from Flint House, a village shop and a chippie approximately 6-minutes walk away, as well as an antique and book store to browse in. A truly unspoilt and peaceful spot, quiet walks from the village through nature reserves, historic routes, the beautiful wooded Nar valley and gently rolling countryside are there for you to explore. The nearest coast is approximately half an hour away at Snettisham, where birds and humans alike flock for the winter spectacular; the incredible sight and sound of waders and wildfowl that matches the WOW of any African safari! Also within around half an hour drive is the North Norfolk coast at Wells-next-the-Sea, HM The King’s Sandringham Estate, Fakenham races, Thetford Forest Park, the historic dockland town of Kings Lynn, and dozens of picturesque sleepy Norfolk villages. Flint House is a fabulous central base for exploring all that Norfolk has to offer.

The house was spotless, with comfortable beds, loads of towels and the best ‘rental’ kitchen we’ve stayed in. The house worked really well for us for a quiet week away in November. Everything worked, and the house came with info on what to do locally. Would definitely recommend.

A home from home. Refreshing to stay in a holiday rental that lived up to our expectations. A very well equipped property which is obviously well cared for. Highly recommended.
