About this property

Settled into the quaint seaside town of Amble, Castaway is the ideal holiday home for a family looking to explore the coast and countryside of Northumberland. Park off-road and be welcomed into this pretty stone cottage, where you will find three spaces to relax after your journey, including a sitting room with grey furniture, wooden flooring and a fluffy rug, from which you can catch up on your favourite TV shows, a conservatory snug which houses two chairs and allows for access onto the garden where you will find an outdoor sitting area, and last but not least, the open-plan living area houses a large L-shaped sofa. Following on from the opulence of the sitting areas, the living area is spectacular, carefully furnished with contemporary décor, and a kitchen filled with all of the home-from-home amenities you will need, tucked away into tasteful cupboards, as well as a glass dining table with yellow chairs, making this the ideal social hub for all guests to enjoy. Freshen up in a stylish bathroom before getting cosy in either a double bedroom with accents of sea blue, a second homely double or a single with a truckle bed. Amble is a fantastic coastal location with loads on offer for guests, beginning with the range of tasty eateries, including Harbour Fish Bar and The Masons Arms, and you can stock up on essentials at the local convenience store. Amble has a beautiful harbour and two piers for you to stroll along, taking in the sea views, as well as riverside walks and easy access to close by attractions such as Hauxley Nature Reserve and Warkworth Beach. Warkworth Castle is also only a short distance away, so why not spend a day exploring the history and heritage of the local area? Make a seaside holiday to remember with a stay at the stylish Castaway.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.

We have stayed in this property before and would definitely stay again. some small maintenance issues: Downstairs toilet was blocked and needed replacing, but agency kept us informed and updated, and it didn't impact upon our holiday. upstairs WC seat is coming loose. water leaking from shower.

The Harbour Inn is a good place to eat. Friendly staff and lovely food. The accommodation was fine clean tidy and everything you need for a comfortable stay. My only issue is THERE IS NO OFF STREET PARKING AS ADVERTISED and It is impossible to park in the rear lane. We were able to unpack the car before finding somewhere to park which iwas a 24hr council run car park a few streets away. It's costs £3 a day and was safe to leave the car.

Nice clean comfortable property. Bed side lamp needed in front double bedroom. More info on recycling as there was no where clear to put glass. Minor things .Really enjoyable stay in a lovely place. Fantastic harbour with friendly local people.
