About this property

Resting in a delightful area in the Northumberland village of Amble is Bonnie's Retreat, a lovely, four-bedroom home. Just stroll away from local shops, eateries, the marina, harbour and the beach, Northumberland Coast AONB, and a host of attractions, Bonnie's Retreat welcomes seven guests or eight on request and two canine companions for a family getaway. Park up to the roadside before entering the property, firstly reaching the sitting room, complete with plush seating, a TV, and an electric fire, where you can unwind after a day of travelling. Continue through to the kitchen, well-equipped to fulfil your self-catering needs, including a washing machine and a dishwasher, before heading to the enclosed courtyard to enjoy meals alfresco. Head indoors to catch some rest, selecting between a king-size, a twin ideal for friends sharing, a single, and a ground-floor king-size with a handy en-suite cloakroom. The property is complete with a spacious bathroom, housing both a bath and a shower for convenience. Kickstart your day with a visit to the harbour, grabbing a bite to eat at The Old Boathouse restaurant, and stocking up on the essentials at the convenience store, before exploring the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre, East Chevington Bay Beach, and Druridge Bay Country Park, resting south. Head for the coastline, where you'll locate the magnificent Warkworth Castle, or enjoy a stroll along Warkworth Beach, a dog-friendly landscape, before heading for Alnwick, its Bailiffgate Museum, River Aln, and characterful Alnwick Abbey Gatehouse. Complete your getaway by visiting the Northumberland Zoo, discovering the pretty grounds of National Trust - Cragside, or accessing the Northumberland National Park for a day of hiking, cycling and bird watching. Experience all of this at Bonnie's Retreat.

Amble, a bustling small harbour at the River Coquet's mouth, is a great starting point for exploring Northumberland. In addition to sandy beaches, a marina, a harbour, and coastal hikes to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and the national park at Druridge Bay, Amble, once a centre for boatbuilding, offers all these amenities. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are landed by the large fishing boats that are moored around the harbour wall. On the side of the harbour is a fish centre that sells local fish and is available to the public. It is currently mostly a shellfish hatchery to restock levels of lobster and other shellfish. Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble.

Bonnie’s retreat is a lovely cottage with all you need for a break away with your family. It is situated near many beautiful beaches and a bustling harbour town. The welcome pack was a brilliant addition, with tea/coffee/biscuits and even milk in the fridge for a cuppa after your long journey. Thanks Russel and Elizabeth, we will definitely be back.
