About this property

This semi-detached property sits in a corner plot on the outskirts of the city of Chester. Benefitting from off-road parking and a large, enclosed garden, 28 Waterloo Road is a magnificent escape for a family of five and their canine companion. Internally, the property features a well-appointed kitchen housing all the essentials for home-cooking, including a dishwasher so you won’t have to lift a finger when it comes to cleaning up! Gather at the dining table and tuck into a hearty meal, before taking the evening outside and relaxing in the garden, enclosed throughout so your pooch can safely explore. Head to the lounge and get comfortable on the sofa, catching up on TV. Upstairs plays host to the bedrooms, including a king-size, double and a single, offering a varied sleeping arrangement. Start the morning with a refreshing shower before heading to the local convenience store in Hoole and grabbing the essentials for home-cooking. Head into the centre of Chester and take your pick from a range of restaurants, with Hickory’s Smokehouse, La Fattoria and Shrub to name a few. There’s also a range of shops for some retail therapy, whilst historians will relish a walk along the Roman City Walls, Chester Roman Gardens, and admiring the picturesque cathedral. Chester Racecourse, Chester Golf Club, and Chester Meadows can be boxed off too, or if you're looking for something special for the whole family, Chester Zoo is sure to be an unforgettable day out! Further afield, the delights of North Wales await, including many beaches and historic towns and villages. However you choose to spend your time, a break at 28 Waterloo Road is sure to be packed with adventure.

Chester has been dubbed "the pearl of the North-West of England" rather correctly. The city's ability to contain remnants from every historical era, including Roman walls and an amphitheatre, mediaeval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed mansions, Georgian terraces, Victorian restorations, and 21st-century architecture, may be its most remarkable feature. The city has a lot to offer visitors, including fantastic shopping in and near the well-known Tudor "Rows" and relaxing strolls along the Roman Walls, along to the River Dee, and through the gorgeous Grosvenor Park. Visit Chester Racecourse, spend the day at the famed Chester Zoo, or see the city's stunning ancient cathedral. Further out, the picturesque market towns and villages of Cheshire, the Wirral Peninsula with its world-class golf courses, the spectacular Welsh mountains and coastline, and Liverpool, Manchester, and the North Wales coast are all easily accessible by rail.

All the delights of the city are nearby, plus there is a large Morrisons supermarket about 7 minutes walk away. Whilst the house is adequately equipped it is below the standard of other Sykes properties I’ve used. The sofa and seating in the lounge is very uncomfortable, the diningt table is too low for the chairs provided, bedroom mattresses are all lumpy and pillows are of a poor quality. There is also no mirror in the bathroom, which means shaving in the downstairs loo. None of these things in themselves are deal breakers, but you add them together and they take a toll on the overall quality of the stay. On the plus side the owner’s agent was attentive and the house was clean.
