About this property

Sitting on the corner of a quiet lane, in the heart of the beautiful market town of Chipping Norton, The Smithy is a lovely Cotswold stone cottage, fully refurbished in a contemporary style, and the perfect base for exploring the picturesque towns, villages and countryside of the Cotswolds.

The front door opens into the stylish living/dining area which is a wonderful room for you and your loved ones to sink into the sofa, snuggle chair or armchair and catch up on some TV with the warmth from the electric stove keeping you warm and toasty in the cold evening, with lovely features such as an exposed Cotswold stone wall and attractive wooden flooring.

You’ll feel right at home in the contemporary kitchen, which is well laid out and contains everything you require to cook up a delicious meal for your guests before you all retreat to the large wooden dining table to enjoy your feast and discuss your plans for the coming days.

A convenient cloakroom completes the ground floor containing a basin and WC.

A choice of three welcoming bedrooms await upstairs; a twin, a double and a single, all elegantly decorated with comfort of guests in mind, and sharing the floor with the bedrooms is the fresh bathroom with a lovely P-shaped bath so you can soak amongst the bubbles and enjoy total relaxation.

At the rear of the cottage is a small, elegant courtyard garden, which contains a bistro table and seating for four, where you can soak up the sun and enjoy your meals alfresco.

Start your day with a lovely breakfast at The Tea Set in Chipping Norton before heading for a great day out at Heythrop Zoological gardens where you can discover an array of wonderful exotic animals, and finish your day with a pub dinner at one of the many pubs that sit within Chipping Norton such as The Red Lion and The Fox.

Indulge in delicious hamburgers, cool draft beers, lagers, ciders and rosé, and also the interesting cow juice at Diddly Squat Farm, just a short car journey from The Smithy, in nearby Chadlington.

Nearby Kingham is a peaceful and secluded village, an excellent centre for walking and cycling with a number of walks and cycle rides centred on the village, set in the broad Evenlode valley with wide open village greens and a village shop, a church and two pubs; The Kingham Plough and The Wild Rabbit.

Chastleton is pretty little village lying close to Chipping Norton, where you can visit the well-known Chastleton House which is a splendid Grade l listed Jacobean manor built in the early 1600s.

Choose The Smithy as your wonderful home-from-home retreat.

The ancient town of Chipping Norton, steeped in history and culture, is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the shadow of the Rollright Hills in this unspoilt area of Oxfordshire. Chipping Norton boasts a popular weekly market, numerous book and antique shops, many cafes, restaurants and pubs serving excellent food and local ales, art galleries, a museum and a thriving theatre. Chipping Norton is surrounded by the pretty limestone villages of the Cotswolds and offers many walks and cycle trails from the town centre, together with a Lido, perfect for a relaxing swim at the end of a busy day. Blenheim Palace, Rousham House and Gardens and numerous National Trust properties are close by, and a little further afield Stratford Upon Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, and the magnificent university town of Oxford are a real delight.
