About this property

This pretty period cottage is situated in a residential street at the top of Jacob's Ladder, a short walk from Falmouth’s vibrant high street and bustling harbour. Warm and welcoming with exposed stone walls and painted wooden floors, the cottage provides excellent accommodation. Enter into the sunny porch and hall, off which the comfortable sitting room has a wood burning stove and good selection of games - perfect for relaxing or spending a diverting evening with the family. The kitchen is a wonderfully social space with a neat dining area, a full range of appliances and an electric range. Glazed doors lead to the enclosed garden meandering over two level (steep steps to upper level, children should be supervised) and provides an ideal space to sit and enjoy a meal al fresco. Tops'l Cottage is a fantastic base from which to explore Falmouth, a 5 minute walk takes you to the town centre with some amazing restaurants, art galleries and shops. For seaside fun, Gyllingvase, Swanpool and Maenporth beaches can all be reached within a very short drive. Hop on the ferry to St Mawes and the Roseland beyond, or jump on the train to Truro from the nearby station or explore the nearby sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The Helford River with secret river inlets and the Lizard Peninsula, with scenic coves set against dramatic granite cliffs are within easy reach by car; Kynance Cove is breathtaking and will not disappoint! Perfectly located, Tops'l Cottage is the ideal location for a holiday at any time.

Falmouth, with its magnificent natural harbour (the third largest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. The town's old harbour-side pubs, excellent shopping, art gallery and stunning National Maritime Museum simply complete the picture. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry viii, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes). For nature lovers there is the Swanpool Nature Reserve, a lagoon and site of special scientific interest teeming with a variety of wildlife. Falmouth offers such a rich variety of landscape and attractions for people of all ages, it is sure to tempt you back time and again.

Cosy, spotless well maintained and thoughtfully equipped. Particularly chuffed with welcome pack. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay. PS the dogs loved it as well.

Thank you for the milk, scones and doggy biscuits! It was really clean and fine for just the two of us plus dog. So, overall v positive. Only couple of things: I think it would be too small for 6 people, loo seat downstairs wobbly, pillows un comfy (personal preference though). Loved the garden too and thank you for our stay

We were 3 generations with a dog and had enough space for all of us. The walk down to the town / harbour was quite steep so wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Loads of eating places within short walking distance and good base to discover more of Cornwall. Property was well equipped and parking was a bonus. We were also blessed with fab weather.
