Guests say

Cloam Cottage is a charming property with quality bedding, towels, and a convenient parking space. Its central location in Port Isaac is highly appreciated, offering proximity to the harbour and local attractions. Despite some concerns, guests have enjoyed their stays and the professional service provided by the letting agency.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness has been a recurring issue, with several guests reporting the property as dirty upon arrival, including windows, doors, and kitchen utensils. Some guests found the property in a satisfactory state, but the majority of comments suggest a need for improvement in this area.

The cottage's location is consistently praised for being central and close to the harbour, with the added benefit of a designated parking space. The convenience of the location is a standout feature in the reviews.

Guests have found the beds clean and comfortable, and the inclusion of an upstairs WC has been appreciated. However, some guests felt the living space was cramped, and issues with noise from a nearby restaurant's extractor fan have affected the overall comfort.

Facilities and maintenance have received mixed feedback. While some guests were satisfied with the amenities, others reported broken appliances, lack of cleaning materials, and issues with Wi-Fi and heating. The need for refurbishment and better maintenance is evident.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the owners' consideration for guests' experiences.

About this property

Cloam Cottage is a traditional, fisherman’s dwelling located in the centre of Port Isaac, on Cornwall’s north coast. This self-catering property sleeps up to four guests and is perfect for a family holiday or romantic break for two, well-positioned near the beach and range of local amenities. There are plenty of characterful features to admire when you arrive; slate flooring runs throughout the ground floor, exposed beams are on show in every room and the sitting room has a large fireplace and woodburning stove to cosy up in front of. The ground floor also contains a well-kitted out kitchen, a separate utility room which includes a washer/dryer and additional storage space, and a family bathroom with a walk-in shower. Upstairs you will find two stylishly decorated bedrooms, one double room and one twin, as well as an additional WC. Much of Port Isaac is unchanged from hundreds of years ago, and you can see this in the picturesque harbour, traditional buildings, and rugged coastline. Port Isaac is known for its winding streets and alleyways, with one of the narrowest known thoroughfares in Britain, aptly named Squeezy Belly Alley! When the sun is shining you can head to the small, sandy beach at Port Isaac or venture down the coast to the larger beaches at Daymer Bay or Rock, and practice building sandcastles, surfing or just relaxing with a good book. Boat trips out to sea, whether fishing or wildlife watching are a perfect way to admire the coastal scenery, while those who prefer dry land can ramble along the South West Coast Path for scenic adventures. For your next Cornish break, stay at Cloam Cottage.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

The kitchen cupboard was also covered in dog hair which would be fine if we had a dog.

They offered to clean the cottage for us but it was in a good state and we just asked for fresh towels and for the beds to be changed. Cottage was perfect ,shower needs a better base as feels like it will collapse.
