About this property

Tintagel 1.2 miles. 1 Rock Cottages is a delightful, double-fronted dwelling nestled in the picturesque village of Treknow, just 1 mile from the beach at Trebarwith Strand in Cornwall. This pet-friendly abode is the perfect place for those looking to enjoy time by the beach, just moments away from a stunning stretch of golden sand, whilst featuring a homely interior with all the essentials, perfect for a family getaway. Access to the cottage by car is restricted due to the narrow width of the lane. We recommend parking on the roadside elsewhere in the village where the parking is unrestricted, and walking to the cottage. Be welcomed indoors by the snug, an escape for a quiet evening with a good book or a competitive games night, before relocating to the sitting room, where you can unwind with the TV for entertainment in front of the woodburning stove. Continue into the kitchen/diner, also complete with a woodburning stove for additional warmth, where you can prepare meals with a whole host of appliances, and gather as a group of five, before taking advantage of your outdoor space, enjoying elevated views across Cornwall; you’ll also find some secure storage in the garden, perfect for storing away your walking gear or sporting equipment. Discover three inviting bedrooms, including one double, a Super King zip link (can be twin beds on request) and a single, perfect for families, friends or couples, along with the convenience of a bathroom and a shower room. Step outside of 1 Rock Cottages and follow the coastal path down to Trebarwith Strand, 10 to 15 mins walk with a sandy beach, a stunning location that welcomes dogs all day, all year-round, before dining out at the nautical-themed Port William pub and restaurant, enveloped by stunning sea views. Set off on a journey to the nearby town of Tintagel (20 minute walk) or 1.2 miles, where you can explore the ruins of its magnificent castle, steeped in local history, and marvel at the views of the sea and the wild Cornish countryside, from Merlin's Cave and Tintagel Bridge View. Explore nature at its finest, with many local walks to be discovered, or take a day trip to Wadebridge, where you can take a stroll along the Camel Trail, a disused railway line now reclaimed for walkers and cyclists to enjoy or take a boat ride across the River Camel. Your journey to the Southwest begins at 1 Rock Cottages.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.

Perhaps the parking situation needs to be explained a bit more as we found it difficult unloading and re-loading the car at a distance, particularly for us oldies! Otherwise the beds are super-comfortable, there is everything you need in the kitchen...(we even baked our own rolls!), central heating a boon as it got cold towards the end of our stay. Proximity to the Coast Path a plus point.

Plenty of amenities to make our stay comfortable and located in a great area. The host, Charlotte, was very responsive to any queries we had which was comforting. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to stay in the area. Very impressed.
