About this property

Nestled on the outskirts of Rackenford, Devon and surrounded by 200 acres of woodland is the fabulous, single-storey barn conversion of Olive Barn. A charming setting for a family of six’s rural getaway, Olive Barn rests within reach of the delights of Exmoor National Park and the East Devon AONB and is home to array of wildlife such as sheep, roe and red deer that might make an appearance during your stay. After parking in one of the three generous, off-road parking spaces, soak up your peaceful surroundings of the countryside before stepping inside your new home-from-home. Be welcomed by a fantastically furnished open-plan living space, where two plush sofas entice you to relax with your favourite tipple in hand as you watch your favourite show on the Smart TV. Make your way over the kitchen, a well-presented space featuring integrated appliances that are bound to satisfy any aspiring chef, including an electric cooker! Once the designated chef of the group has fixed up a mouthwatering meal here, enjoy it as a light bite at the breakfast bar or as a sit-down affair at the dining table. When sleep calls, progress through the property to find three tastefully decorated bedrooms, with the first of these being a king-size enjoying direct access to the rear garden as well as a fabulous en-suite bathroom featuring both a roll-top bath and walk-in shower; the latter two bedrooms comprise a double also enjoying direct access to the garden, along with a charming bunk room. Further along the corridor, you’ll be pleased to discover a contemporary bathroom, where a bath with shower over offers soothing dips at the end of a busy day out. On sunny days, make your way outside to the rear garden to enjoy the birdsong, where idyllic water features make for a serene setting for alfresco dining; or sit out in the front garden, a space that is ideal for evening entertainment, thanks to its fire pit. Olive Barn lies on the edge of a dark sky area meaning on a clear night you can marvel at the starry sky. For your amenities, travel a short way into the small village of Rackenford, where you can dine out at The Stag Inn or purchase essentials for homecooked meals from the general store; a wildlife refuge is also close by, ideal for birdwatching and walks! For a day packed with intrigue, head to Tiverton, a town boasting the likes of the National Trust’s Knightshayes Court, the breathtaking Tiverton Castle, Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life and the Tiverton Golf Club. If you’re looking for a day out in the city, be sure to visit Exeter where an array of attractions await, including the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, the vast Barley Valley Nature Reserve and the iconic Exeter Cathedral. Why not visit the charming town of Barnstaple, where you can walk along the River Taw, tour the Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon or try your hand at trampoline at the Air Extreme Trampoline Park? Dulverton, a beautiful small town in the heart of Exmoor and home to the Dulverton Heritage Centre, is also a short drive away. For coastal escapades, the delights of Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Westward Ho are all within reach, where you can walk along the South West Coastal Path or unwind on their beaches. A memorable stay awaits at Olive Barn.

The small village of Rackenford is ringed by farms, and agriculture is still the largest single source of employment. Unlike so many small villages, there is still a school, a village shop, a traditional village local The Stag Inn and a social club, providing a strong community spirit. You can discover Village Day on Rackenford Common, the November 5th bonfire, the Garden Club's spring and autumn shows to name just a few. A truly great village with a vibrant community!
