About this property

Tucked away in the World Heritage mining site of Whitchurch near Tavistock in Devon, is this lovely semi-detached cottage, Kestrel Cottage. Enjoying a superb location just on the outskirts of the Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley AONB, Kestrel Cottage is a fantastic choice for couples, friends or a family of four. The property benefits from a charming front courtyard with furniture, ideal for savouring your morning coffee as you plan the days adventures. On the ground floor, you will find a well-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up your best dishes, ready to enjoy at the dining table for four over a celebratory bottle of fizz. After dinner, kick-back and relax on the sumptuous seating in front of the crackling woodburning stove. Completing the ground floor is a utility housing a washing machine for your convenience. Head upstairs, where you can freshen up in the contemporary shower room, before choosing from two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, both offering a wonderful haven to return to at the end of the day. Just paces away from your holiday home, you will find a well-stocked convenience store for stocking up on essentials, and the welcoming Whitchurch Inn, where you can treat your loved ones to a well-deserved meal. For a wider selection of amenities continue onto Tavistock, where you can tour the Tavistock Museum, catch a live performance at the Tavistock Wharf, purchase fresh and local produce from the daily pannier market, visit the Robey Trust, and sample the delights of the variety of pubs, restaurants, and cafes, including the Michelin Star restaurant of Cornish Arms.

Other delicious places to visit for food inclide The Annex, which serves up tapas, The Bedford Hotel, The Market Inn, and then there's the HQ Cocktail Bar & Club. For scenic hikes and walks, you can venture into the stunning Dartmoor National Park, where you can hike up imposing tours, and the Tamar Valley AONB, where you will find scenic hiking trails and the National Trust site of Cotehele. Just 15 miles away, you’ll find Plymouth, home to the National Marine Aquarium as seen recently on the BBC Two Television series 'Secrets of the Aquarium'. This is the largest Aquarium in the UK. The main tank contains 2.5 million litres and houses many species such as sand tiger sharks, lemon sharks, nurse sharks, southern sting rays and most importantly 'Friday' the 20-stones green sea turtle!

Further local attractions include Buckland Abbey, Dartmoor Zoo, Alpaca Trekking, Horse Riding, and trout fishing is also available locally. All this and more awaits at Kestrel Cottage.

Whitchurch is a charming Devon village located to the southeast of the historic market town of Tavistock. If you're looking to take a break from cooking, the Whitchurch Inn is a great place to stay, and the on-site convenience store has everything you need to whip up a delicious meal at home. The Dartmoor National Park is a short distance from the town, and it offers beautiful landscapes for hiking and a fascinating history for history buffs. Tavistock, surrounded by the picturesque Tavistock Meadows and the Tavistock Parish Church, is a charming market town just a short drive away. The town has many different retail establishments, as well as cafes and restaurants. Both locals and tourists frequent Robertson's Restaurant and Pizzeria.
