Maybe take the chance to enjoy a bracing walk through the nearby Puddletown forest. 14 miles to the south is Lulworth, part of the world heritage Jurassic coastline, maybe hunt for fossils and explore the geological formations and learn more in the Visitor’s Centre. Alternatively head to the county town of Dorchester to the west. It was for many years the home and inspiration of the author Thomas Hardy, whose novel The Mayor of Casterbridge uses a fictionalised version of Dorchester as its setting. Sue & Laurie were really helpful and such kind hosts and their dog Anna was so sweet with our own dog Heidi. The accommodation was everything we needed, clean, comfortable and having access to a garden for our dog. The village pub âThe Royal Oakâ (5 mins walk) has a great menu, and big portions which we visited most evenings. The local shop (Londis) has everything you need and reasonably priced. We chose the location as we wanted to be within 30-40 mins from Weymouth and Bournemouth. We highly recommend Little England Cottage.

Very nice pub in walking distance from Little England serving delicious food. Hosts of Little England welcoming as well as helpful and friendly. My husband and I plus our dog really enjoyed our 3 day stay in Dorset.
