During the day, take a short walk to the Weymouth Beach where you can roam the glorious, golden sands, build sandcastle with the children, or splash around in the breath-taking azure; the adventurous among you can even take to the open water on kayaks, paddle boards or pedalos, a truly unique way to take in the breath-taking scenery. Weymouth is an excellent holiday destination any time of year because of the large range of activities and attractions available, which are fun for people of all ages and interests. Beautiful golden sand beaches with first-rate watersports facilities and a lively harbour where frequent fishing expeditions depart are both at your disposal. Weymouth is connected to Portland Harbour and the wild "Isle" of Portland by the stunning Chesil Beach. Just 7 miles away is Dorchester, the inspiration for Thomas Hardy's "Casterbridge," or you may take a drive along the coast and stop by Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. You may also just go to West Bay; the scenery along the Dorset Heritage Coast is breath-taking.
