About this property

Hendy Cottage is a beautiful Cotswold stone cottage located moments from Rodborough Common with views across the Cotswold Way and the Golden Valley.

This beautiful cottage in the Cotswolds welcomes a family or group of six for a peaceful break with a dedicated off-road parking space and fantastic local amenities. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard with seating, which will undoubtedly become your favourite sunny spot for your morning coffee! Step inside and instantly you will start to unwind. The cottage is perfectly equipped with a full working kitchen, including a washer/dryer and dishwasher. A lovely spot to relax and reconnect with friends and family, the cottage benefits from an open plan dining room with a large farmhouse table and leads into the bright and airy sitting room with stone feature walls and dual aspect views across the valley. The living room features an original wood burner and Smart TV. The bedrooms are equally as comfortable and lovingly thought out, with a super king-size bed which can also be set up as two singles on request and two further double bedrooms all of which are have been designed sympathetically to the views outside, reflected in the exquisite textiles and materials used. There is a large family bathroom which features a bath and shower for all guests, as well as a heated towel rail. We encourage you to bring your wellies, hiking boots or bikes and explore your surroundings-The area is a biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest and also a Local Nature Reserve. Look out for various wildflowers and several species of orchid including Frog Orchid, Bee Orchid and Musk Orchid. The common consists of attractive grassland, scrub and woodland with Beech and Ash trees.

It's also great for wildlife with over 30 species of butterfly flying around the pretty wildflowers. Look out for the rare Duke of Burgundy and Adonis blue.

The common is in an elevated position above Stroud so on a clear day there are far reaching views towards the Forest of Dean and the Welsh hills.

Butterow Lane is well positioned for lots of fabulous local businesses and we love to champion the independents! Stroud town centre is a short walk away and has many bars shops and restaurants to choose from. Just above the house lies the Bear of Rodborough which serves delicious local fare throughout the day and on a clear summers day the views in their gin garden are unbeatable! The Prince Albert pub is a short walk through Butterow west which is lined with alpacas and sheep and serves local ales from Stroud Brewery and champions vegan alternatives in their burgers and pizza offerings- don’t worry though meat options are still available too!

Minchinhampton Golf Club, Calcot Manor and Spa, Newark Park, Westonbirt, and The National Arboretum are all close by as well as Gloucester, Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham and Tetbury to visit for a day of sightseeing.

Hendy House is a special little bolt hole in the Cotswolds which truly has something for everyone all year

The town of Stroud is known as the less commercial corner of the Cotswolds, a somewhat bohemian collection of buildings, squares and lanes, tucked into the green hills which once housed countless sheep during the town’s time as the centre of the Cotswold’s woollen industry. Today, Stroud welcomes visitors to its friendly cafes, quaint bookshops, independent shops and tempting eateries. Described by Jasper Conran as the ‘Covent Garden of the Cotswolds’, Stroud has a regular farmers' market, year-round programmes of music and theatre, a thriving arts scene and a state-of-the-art cinema. For simply relaxing, Stratford Park on the edge of town offers lakeside walks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a museum. Head out of town to explore the five sweeping valleys which surround it, with country lanes just made for walking or cycling.
