Full length bi-fold doors open up from the living space onto a private decked area and lawns, with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside. Situated at the south end of the village of Richard’s Castle, approximately 3 miles from the gastronomic centre of Ludlow.
Broomers Barn is a beautifully appointed single-storey, wooden-clad barn located in a very pretty and peaceful setting. Full length bi-fold doors open up from the living space onto a private decked area and lawns, with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is all on one level with no internal steps and wide doorways; a ramp can be provided on request for easier access across the lip at the entrance to the property.
The village of Richard's Castle straddles two counties, Herefordshire and Shropshire. Broomers Barn is situated at the south end of the village, approximately 3 miles from the gastronomic centre of Ludlow with its famous castle. The property offers easy access to some lovely walks, the village church, a pub, and the ruins of its namesake, the original Norman fortress, built around 1050 by Richard Scrope as a part of the English border defence against the Welsh. The castle now exists only as a ruin.
Guests can sharpen their appetites by walking to the nearby village of Orleton (one mile away) and enjoy a meal at one of two village pubs, both offering food and local ales.

My wife and I stayed at Broomers Barn for 5 nights in early August 2024. The location is quiet and very pretty, and the surroundings are truly lovely. Also lovely was the friendly hospitality from Avril and Ian; well belong what is expected and required, but making the whole experience very special. (Thank you so much, Avril and Ian). Over the years we have stayed at quite a few self-catering facilities across the English countryside. We usually try to visit a different place each time, however nice a place is. In the case of Broomers Barn, we actually hope to return one day. Highly recommended.

Excellent accommodation, friendly hosts and huge welcome hamper. The only fly in the ointment was the sluggish broadband (< 2Mb/s), but that should be sorted by the time we hope to visit again next year, as superfast fibreoptic broadband was starting to arrive in Richards Castle on the day of our arrival!

Wonderful location.Friendly, kind hosts. The barn is very comfortable with lots of natural light and very well equipped.It is beautifully decorated with lots of individual touches and a private aspect. Great eating places nearby. It was perfect 5star!
