The building is comprised of 2 separate flats. The owners of the downstairs flat are very in-sync with nature. Hence the presence of wildflowers and bushes growing around their part of the building. They have also started feeding a variety of birds inhabiting the seafront and the near-by church.

The town of Rothesay is a charming, small coastal town on the Isle of Bute and boasts many interesting shops, cafés, restaurants and attractions. Rothesay is Bute’s main town, and there is an excellent tourist office in the Discovery Centre, which also houses an exhibition about the Isle of Bute. Rothesay is the perfect base for exploring the Isle of Bute and it is also the main ferry port and transport hub.

The best way to explore the island at your own pace is by car, but for guests who do not wish to bring their car on holiday, there is a reliable bus service which travels from Kilchattan Bay at the south of the island up to Rhubodach at the north. All buses travel through the town and Rothesay. There are also buses which take you to Ettrick Bay, where you can enjoy lunch or coffee at the café. During the summer season, the bus service also runs to Mount Stuart House. The summer season also brings a city sightseeing bus, which is a hop on, hop off service that tours around the island frequently. Bute is only 33 miles from Glasgow and is one of the most accessible of the westerly islands from the Scottish Central Belt. Fifteen miles long and five miles across at its widest point, the island is home to many historical sites including Rothesay Castle and Mount Stuart House, beautiful gardens and walks for all abilities. Beach 5 miles. Shop½ mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

York Terrace is in very good location, 2 mins walk to Co-op and 5 mins into centre and beach. All large rooms with plenty of storage. But, the double bed was incredibly uncomfortable. We had to sleep on top of a blanket and the duvet for it to be reasonably comfortable. All of the doors need attention. The one in the double bedroom caught on the floor and the twin and kitchen doors didn't shut so difficult to keep the dog out. The bathroom door stuck so badly that on a couple of occasions people weren't able to get out without someone pulling door from the outside. The neighbours downstairs feed the seagulls several times a day so plenty of bird noise, and they sit on the roof just outside the bedroom window in anticipation. Finally no welcome pack which meant after long journey before we'd worked out where the shop was we couldn't make a cup of tea.So, super holiday as Bute is beautiful but accommodation could do with some TLC
