About this property

Located in the lovely seaside village of Southerness, Wagtail Cottage is a charming single storey cottage with fabulous views over the beach. Offering high-quality accommodation for 4, Wagtail Cottage has views out over the sea. You enter Wagtail Cottage through the kitchen and all the accommodation is on the ground floor. The fully equipped kitchen leads into a cosy living/dining room with Freesat TV, with access to the conservatory that provides those gorgeous views out across the beach and the sea. It's the perfect tranquil spot for a breakfast cuppa or a sundowner after a busy day sightseeing or on the beach. There are 2 generous sized bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin, both decorated in a lovely beachside style. The modern family bathroom has a walk-in shower WC and basin. Outside, there's ample off-road parking for 2 cars, and a lovely seaside garden with a large patio and garden furniture. There's another small seating area virtually on the beach, and although there is no direct access from the house, you can get to the beach in just 30 seconds. The beach at Southerness is a vast expanse of sand that stretches around Southerness Point. With stunning views over the Solway Firth, you could spend your entire holiday here exploring the dunes, climbing the lighthouse and eating fish and chips on the beach. If you're a nature lover, then this area of Dumfries and Galloway is a paradise with 3 nature reserves on the doorstep. If a round of golf on one of Scotland's many great courses is more your style, then there are 4 courses within a 10 mile radius, with the 2 links courses at Southerness virtually on the doorstep. Perfectly located for beach lovers, Wagtail Cottage is the perfect holiday destination for those who enjoy their holidays in the great outdoors.

Southerness is a small coastal village established in the late 18th century, which looks out over the Solway Firth, and forms part of the Colvend coast. Home to two pubs, a village store, a leisure centre with a pool and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes and rock pools. The nearby Criffel Hill rises to 569m, offers views of the farmland and the sands of the Nith Estuary below, and provides great walking opportunities. Nearby The Southerness Championship Golf Course can also be found. Cumbrian Lake District is to the south and the Galloway Hills to the west. A great location, with something to keep everybody occupied.

The garden is much much bigger than expected, the views are sensational. Ideally positioned for the sunrise. Photographers dream. The games room is brilliant but the views prevented me from winning table tennis!Inside the cottage the beds were so comfy great nights sleep. The power shower fabulous. The dining table has wonderful views of the beautiful beach and Solway firth. We loved the conservatory, ideal for sitting chatting or reading a book. The most wonderful aspect is our three dogs loved it as wee did. The cottage had everything you needed and was very comfortable, location was great just 2 minutes and you were on the beach. Shop, pubs and chippy very handy. All in all we had a lovely relaxing week. Wouldn’t hesitate to book for next year but prices have rocketed for the same week next year sadly.

The only thing i would recommend is power to the summer house and a light above the conservatory door would be advantageous as it's a dark corner & tricky to unlock the door after dark.... overall we thoughtly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Wasn't a disappointment for us but could be for others that the listing stated there was a room with a hot tub, but there isn't one.
