About this property

Inverness 8.9 miles. This detached, three-bedroom cottage rests on a small livestock hill farm in Strathnairn, amidst the Scottish Highlands. Less than ten miles from Inverness, Balnabodach is a tranquil escape for a family of six and their canine companions, superbly equipped and offering ample parking and garden space. After a day of walking, look forward to putting your feet up in the lounge, where you can catch up on your favourite shows from the TV whilst the woodburning effect electric stove gently heats the space. Make use of the cookery books in the kitchen, which is fitted with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a washing machine, so you are fully catered. Gather at the dining table and toast to a much-needed escape with your nearest and dearest before heading outside and sipping on your favourite tipple in the sunshine. Retreat to the bedrooms to catch your rest, including a double with an en-suite shower on the ground-floor, along with a double and twin upstairs, each neutrally presented. The surrounding area is a haven of tranquillity; from the fertile, rolling farmland of the coast to inland moorlands, lochs and rugged mountains, plus there’s plenty of wildlife including deer, red and roe birds of prey, goshawks, pheasants, songbirds and sparrowhawks. From the door there are plenty of forest walks, including to the scenic Loch Bunachton which can be reached via a walking route through the forest. Keen anglers can enjoy private fishing on Loch Bunachton, home to pike, perch and trout. Aviemore rests in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park 30 miles away and is a fantastic destination with snow sports being the popular winter activity and walking, climbing and biking being the main draw in the summer. Head into the city of Inverness, a fantastic holiday destination with a plethora of cafés, bars, restaurants, and pubs, as well as a range of shops for obligatory gifts and essentials. Once you have found a place to eat, look forward to immersing yourself in the local folklore as you explore the magnificent architecture of Inverness Castle and Inverness Cathedral. Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a stay at Balnabodach.

The city of Inverness, which serves as the Highlands' capital, is the starting point for seeing all of Scotland's Highlands' many attractions. It is simple to access towering mountains, ominous lochs, vast forests, and sheer sea cliffs. The fabled Loch Ness is noteworthy, however most visitors are usually searching for something a little bit more enigmatic. It is bordered by some absolutely stunning countryside. The Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust) is located just outside the city. A walk across the field serves as a sombre reminder of the clansmen who sacrificed their lives, and there is an award-winning display recreating the conflict at the location of the last significant battle fought on British soil. Inverness itself has a lot to offer, including museums, an art gallery, a good theatre, and recreational amenities, in addition to stores, bars, and eateries. The city is bisected by the River Ness, which is home to a variety of fauna and marine life, including red kites and dolphins, both of which can occasionally be seen from the shore or when on excursions from the harbour.
