Set within beautiful extensive grounds, this fantastic Victorian country house is on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons and makes a wonderful holiday base for a large group or a family celebration.
Based in the hamlet of Groesffordd, this splendid house is set on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The popular market town of Brecon (3 miles) has a range of great shops, pubs and restaurants, and is home to a 1930s style cinema, a charming theatre, the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and a number of historic sites including a cathedral. This is a fantastic base for activities including mountain biking, climbing, foraging, angling and canoeing, with nearby activity centres at Llangorse Lake (5 miles), Cantref Adventure Farm (3.5 miles) and Storey Arms (11.5 miles). Walkers and cyclists can follow the Taff Trail and Cycle Route 8 (Lon Las) or enjoy a meal at Cradoc Golf Club (4.5 miles). The house has an impressive entrance by way of a veranda, leading through a porch and into the large hallway with an arch and a sweeping staircase. There are two delightful lounges offering plenty of space for you all to relax in comfort. Each lounge has a choice of seating, TV, DVD and a wood burner. A spacious dining room benefits from a large deep window offering plenty of light and has room for up to 21 guests. You can prepare banquets or more modest meals in the two well equipped kitchens reached via some steps down, which are perfect for catering for large groups. The first kitchen has a large range oven, an American style fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The second kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer. The ground floor also features two separate WCs and two utility rooms, each with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Heading upstairs you will find the spacious master bedroom a light and attractive family room with a king size bed, a day bed and space for an additional full size single bed if required. This room has a Juliet balcony with glorious views, as well as an en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. A small flight of steps leads up to a floor with four bedrooms: a king size room with a Juliet balcony, and a single room which have shared bathroom facilities including a WC and a separate shower room/wet room. There s also a king size room with a wet room (without WC), and a double bedroom with an attractive Victorian feature fireplace and a wet room across the hall. A final flight of steep stairs leads up to the top floor where there are four further bedrooms. A spacious attic room with sloping ceilings has a king size bed and a single bed, with space for an additional single bed if required. This room also has a private bathroom with a WC and a separate shower. You will also find a double bedroom with an en suite shower and WC, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom with an en suite shower room with WC. The floor also has a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. The property is set in extensive gardens with an orchard and many wonderful mature trees, including a giant redwood. There s plenty of outdoor furniture so you can sit back and admire the beautiful views while enjoying a BBQ. There s also a games room where you can play table tennis and pool. Ample parking is available for up to ten cars, and there s also secure storage space for mountain bikes.
