About this property

Enjoy the best of both worlds at this stylish holiday home, with the amenities of Crickhowell and walking, cycling, climbing, and mountain biking within the Welsh countryside all on your doorstep

Crickhowell, with its bustling high street running down to the idyllic River Usk, is a great base for outdoor enthusiasts, with fantastic cycling and walking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Cross the historic bridge over to the neighbouring village of Llangattock and you'll find the Brecon and Monmouth Canal, with the recently restored towpath great with a bike or for a relaxing amble. Tackle the heights of The Sugar Loaf, The Blorenge, Table Mountain and over to Llangattock Mountain before returning to quench your thirst in one of the many watering holes. Try a spot of fishing on the River Usk, or there is pony trekking and caving nearby too. Sample the menus of the many excellent gastropubs and restaurants and potter between the attractive locally owned shops. Sympathetically converted with large windows to make the most of the views, the original beams and exposed stonework sit harmoniously within the contemporary renovation creating very elegant yet comfortable accommodation over three floors. Making excellent use of the existing windows and the gallery hallway below, the very large, light and open plan living space is on the third floor. The hand built oak kitchen has a large double oven and a 5 ring gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer and ample work and storage space. A long dining table enables at least ten people to enjoy a meal together. Leather sofas and chairs sit in front of the wood burner, the perfect place to sit and relax with a good book, board game or film. There are views over Crickhowell Castle to the Llangattock Escarpment in one direction, and from the other side over the Georgian roof tops of Crickhowell to the nearby Sugar Loaf Mountain. On the second floor there are four bedrooms and the family bathroom. There are three king size bedrooms: one with an en suite shower room; one with a single bed making a family room; with the final bedroom a single. The spacious bathroom has a large spa bath and a very large shower cubicle. The final bedroom is on the ground floor, a family room with a king size and single bed and patio doors that open to the courtyard. There is also a shower room with WC and a large utility room with a washing machine, folding clothes airers, large free standing larder fridge and ample room to store boots and wet weather gear. Clothes drying line is available outside. The large games room has a table tennis table, a dart board and provides safe indoor storage for bikes. From the utility room, a door leads out to a completely enclosed, quaint and private courtyard with wooden garden table and chairs, weber gas BBQ and a feature open fireplace with chimney in the old stone wall the courtyard is partly enclosed by the ancient Old Town Wall with the castle just behind.
