You are perfectly situated to benefit from the amazing landscapes and scenery of the Cambrian mountains in the Snowdonia National Park for those who are passionate about walking, while just within a 40-minute drive you can be making sandcastles on the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay, an entirely different landscape for a more laid back activity. You needn’t go far to enjoy the surrounding wildlife, just take a stroll along the River Twymyn which runs alongside the lodges and try to spot the resident, but rather elusive, otters or minks. Other good places to immerse yourself in nature are the nearby nature reserves like Glyndwr Way, Hafren Forest and Llyn Clywedog, all within easy driving distance. When you are looking to browse some shops or enjoy some afternoon tea, then head over to Machynlleth where you’ll find a variety of local independent shops and cafes, or travel to the National Trust’s imposing Powis Castle for a great day out for all the family. Alpaca Cabin is a fantastic spot to enjoy the best of the Mid Wales countryside. The village of Llanbrynmair is located between Carno and Machynlleth in Powys, Mid Wales, where the rivers Twymyn, Laen and Rhiw Saeson meet. In nearby Carno are the remains of a roman fort adjoining the churchyard, and eleven miles away the small market town of Machynlleth sits amid the rolling hills of Mid Wales. The streets of Machynlleth town spread out from the 19th century clock tower, and offer a good mix of specialist shops, pubs, and cafes, in addition to the regular street markets held every Wednesday. The town boasts two art galleries, and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts. With Newtown, Welshpool, and a little further, Aberystwyth within reach, makes Llanbrynmair the perfect base for a relaxing Welsh holiday.
