Want a little taste of Croatian magic? Let Villa Murvica be your home.
Off the coast of Split, on the island of Brac, sits a small town called Murvica. This will be your home for the duration of your stay. You’re 5km west of the famous tourist town of Bol and the splendid Zlatni Rat beach. It’s also not a long walk at all until you’re in the centre of Murvica, a quaint little town at the bottom of the Vidova Mountains overlooking multiple vineyards, the Adriatic Sea and the neighbouring island of Hvar.
Let’s begin with Bol. Located on the southern side of Brac, and its oldest town, Bol is somewhat of an oasis owing to its vast sandy beaches and over 10km of coastline. This is a dreamy destination if sand and sea is what you seek.
Bol is known for its lovely seafront promenade and the long stretch known as Klatni Rat Beach. The beach itself is consistently rated one of the most beautiful in the world, a long curve shaped like a golden horn that dips gracefully into the dramatic blue sea. You can enjoy the poetically named and evocative Dragon’s Cave, which contains a chapel from the 15th-century. Other striking sights are the Blaca Hermitage, built into the steep cliff face and delightful 15th century Dominican Monastery houses.
Moving onto Murvica, this tiny town is reminiscent of authentic small-town Croatian living. It’s got a sweet, sleepy vibe. It’s small but sublime and boasts a teeny-tiny population of 22 inhabitants! Murvica was known as a safe haven for monks and nuns who were seeking to escape the Turks. As a result there are many monasteries to explore here.
Your closest island is Hvar, the popular port and resort town peppered with yachts all summer long. From here, you can explore the many Pakleni islands via ferry. These islands houses many secluded beaches, dramatic coves and verdant pine forests. They truly give the experience of discovering a new world for the first time. Hvar itself is known for its lively night life. Revellers flock to Hula Beach for frolics. Another popular destination is Stipanska Beach on Marinkovac Island, which is home to a plentiful night life scene for those who seek excitement.
Close to the mainland, you can visit the arresting city of Split. The city itself is exciting and known for its flair, food, culture, history and amazing architecture. It’s also a great spring board into a delightful jaunt island-hopping. Whether you seek serene or stupendous, you’re perfectly placed to make the most of this beautiful part of the world.
