Chateau De Seyres receives high praise for its authentic charm, spacious and comfortable rooms, and tranquil setting. Guests are enamoured by the warm hospitality of the hosts, Nathalie and Blandine, and the property's extensive grounds, including a large swimming pool. The chateau's historical character and modern amenities provide a unique and delightful experience.
There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.
The chateau is appreciated for its idyllic setting in the peaceful town of Sers, Dordogne, surrounded by woodland and offering tranquillity. The proximity to basic provisions and an Intermarche within a short drive is noted, although the town's minimal offerings are mentioned.
Guests find the rooms large and comfortable, with a sense of warmth that makes them feel at home. The property's ability to accommodate large groups and the presence of a newly-built pool during a heatwave contribute to the high comfort level experienced by visitors.
The chateau boasts a range of facilities including a large outdoor pool, badminton, table tennis, and petanque. While generally well-received, there are minor mentions of missing latches or towel racks, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is consistently highlighted, with their efforts to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. While gifts are not explicitly mentioned, the hosts' refusal of a tip and their assistance with event planning demonstrate their commitment to guest satisfaction. Please note that such personal touches, while delightful, are not guaranteed.
The charming Chateau de Seyres is ideally located in a small village in the Charente region of South West France, just on the Dordogne borders, and offers guests a choice on whether they'd like to stay in Medieval splendour or Classical elegance! The property has remained in the same family for several centuries, who painstakingly take care of the place and ensure each and every need of each and every guest is met. Enjoy the spectacular linden tree in its courtyard, as you take in a chateau nestled in greenery that overlooks the nearby valley and woods - the perfect place for a holiday in the South of France.
The chateau has two wings, which are connected by a music room. This room is a great place to meet up with everyone for drinks and nibbles, and entertainment is easy thanks to the Pleyel grand piano, at the disposal of seasoned musicians.
The elegant rooms have all been decorated by hand and refurbished with a contemporary touch that'll make modern visitors feel right at home. There's a huge attention to detail, including good quality beds (two four-posters) and linen as well as period and vintage furniture. Most of the property's bathrooms have been completely remodelled to include (among other things) a large shower. There is central heating for winter use and, should you feel the need, a blazing log fire!
Chateau De Seyres has an ideal location, and it's only a minute's walk to the village centre and shops. It's 10km to the Dordogne and 15km to Angoulême (with its excellent rail connection) and the chateau itself is easily reached by road, rail and air and remains open all year for daily, weekly or weekend rentals.
If you're a nature lover, it's paradise! The two hectares of parkland attached to the property provide plenty of opportunities for exercise, play and relaxation, with its 14m pool providing the perfect place to take a dip. The immediate surroundings offer many leisure hiking trails, as well as the chance to take in some great views and get closer to the French countryside.
In the local area, other activities include: the village leisure park for playing boules; a 9-hole golf course (with restaurant, bar and shop) and paintball at one of the biggest centres in France at Garat; horse riding for families at Pranzac; free tennis court and football pitch in the neighbouring village of Bouex (2km).
The Chateau de Seyres is also the perfect base for day-trips to explore cities like Angouleme, Perigueux, Brantome, Limoges and Poitiers. The seaside resorts of La Rochelle, l’Ile de Ré, l’Ile d’Oleron and Royan are attractive destinations with sandy beaches and summer music festivals.

We had a wonderful holiday. 15 of us, including 6 children aged 5 to 14. The property is extraordinary, full of history, sometimes a bit quirky! Lots of outdoor space for the kids and a lovely peaceful pool area. The owner, Nathalie, was on hand to provide advice.
