This simple yet well-appointed holiday home is split over two self-contained levels. Starting on the main level, you will find a charming kitchen and dining area, a living room with TV and three sweet double bedrooms, alongside a family bathroom. Pretty shuttered doors open to the gorgeous terrace overlooking the large garden.

On the lower level, reached via outdoor steps, there’s another kitchen and a useful utility room, a small living room, three further bedrooms (one en suite) and a shared shower room. The kitchen here opens out to the rear terrace, perfect for morning breakfast or for carrying snacks and drinks across to the swimming pool.

The garden is the true heart of Maison Brevieres. Families can enjoy hours of activity on the trampoline, basketball hoop, swings and badminton lawn, while the table tennis table and gorgeous swimming pool keep everyone entertained.

Set just off the road leading to Brantôme, it is just 500m in the other direction to reach the village of Bourdeilles, where you’ll find a handful of restaurants, local cafés, a bakery and a charming Sunday market.

For broader adventures, Brantôme, often called the “Venice of the Périgord”, is only a 9km away and offers beautiful river views, excellent restaurants and medieval charm. The bustling cultural centre of Périgueux, with its shops, museums and historic old town, lies just half an hour from the villa.

Whether gathering around the barbecue, enjoying breakfast on the terrace, canoeing locally or dipping into the pool between village outings, Maison Brevieres offers an easy-going, well-located base for a memorable Dordogne holiday.

In the northern Dordogne countryside, Maison Brevieres is located on the edge of the charming riverside village of Bourdeilles. Surrounded by farmland and fields, the house is set conveniently off the main road connecting Bourdeilles and Brantôme – you can walk to the local village in around five minutes (no pavement most of the way).

Bourdeilles is famed for its elegant château overlooking the River Dronne and it’s also home to a delightful array of amenities, including five restaurants, friendly café-bars, a bakery and a mini-supermarket – everything you need within walking distance. On Sundays, the village comes alive with a small street market offering local produce and artisan goods, while nearby activities such as canoeing and horse-riding provide plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the outdoors.

Just 9km away, Brantôme en Périgord, often referred to as the “Venice of the Périgord”, enchants visitors with its riverside abbey, stone bridges and medieval centre, not to mention its excellent choice of restaurants and a bustling weekly market. It’s another lovely spot for canoeing or you may prefer a leisurely river cruise ride along the Dronne.

Further afield, the vibrant town of Périgueux lies just 30 minutes south, offering a full calendar of cultural events, gourmet dining, superb markets and historic architecture, including its famed Byzantine cathedral. The lively Friday morning market in Ribérac (28km) is a must for food lovers, with stalls overflowing with seasonal produce, cheeses and regional specialities.

Guests may also wish to explore the postcard-perfect villages of Saint-Jean-de-Côle (28km), Nontron (29km) and Thiviers (35km), each with their own unique character, cobbled streets and market squares. A little further west, across the border into the Charente, the enchanting village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (42km) offers riverside dining and a remarkable monolithic church carved into the hillside, one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
