About this property

Set in the south of France between Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion, enjoy award-winning wine from the beautiful 10-acre vineyard as you relax in the vast gardens and woodland surrounding this romantic French château.

Château Des Amours has been exquisitely restored with refined style sleeping up to 16 guests across its eight gorgeous en suite bedrooms. Expect the most wonderful décor from hand-printed wallpaper and intricately designed fabrics to vintage furnishings giving this 19th-century abode a classic yet high-end old-world ambience. Elegant windows frame views of the French wine countryside whilst the three historic turrets are architecturally significant.

Step through the grand hallway’s French windows and be greeted by the sight of the estate’s vast lawns, 40-acre woodland and vineyard that produces a white, rosé and red Bordeaux, all available to purchase. Follow the picturesque path to the inviting swimming pool or play tennis on the private court in stunning surroundings. Discover nature trails and jogging routes as you explore the 52 acres of glorious grounds.

Experience authentic French cuisine by taking advantage of the private chef services whether arranging gourmet picnics, candle-lit feasts or meals al-fresco on the terrace, of course accompanied by the estate’s own wine. Breakfast can also be prepared, perhaps served in the rustic kitchen with its roaring fire or on the summer terrace by the lavender and flowers.

Take time to visit the great city of Bordeaux, just 21km away, as well as the celebrated vineyards of this region. The UNESCO World Heritage landscapes and village of Saint-Émilion should also be appreciated by wine-connoisseurs and keen historians alike. If you are yearning for the sea, you can be enjoying white wine and oysters overlooking Arcachon Bay in just over an hour.

Whether out and about visiting some of the finest wineries in France or simply soaking up the old-world romance of this fairy-tale abode, Château Des Amours is an idyllic and unique place in such a magnificent setting close to the city of Bordeaux and its world-famous vineyards.

In the Gironde department, Château Des Amours is in an ideal location for visiting both Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion. It’s only 33km from Bordeaux International Airport or if arriving by train then transfers can be arranged from central Bordeaux (the TGV from Paris takes just over two hours).

The château is set in 52 acres of grounds with walking and jogging trails, woodland and the estate’s vineyard which produces a red, rosé and award-winning white wine that you can of course purchase during your stay.

The nearest amenities can be found 5km away in medieval Créon with a restaurant and boulangerie as well as a Carrefour supermarket just outside the bastide town. Visit on a Wednesday morning to experience its atmospheric Farmer’s market which takes place in the 14th century arcaded square. Just beyond the town is the historic Abbaye de La Sauve-Majeure, a unesco World Heritage site.

In the city itself head to La Cité du Vin or take advantage of the vibrant restaurant scene. Admire the city’s amazing architecture and visit some of the brilliant museums for a fantastic day out.

Saint-Émilion (30km) is also around half an hour by car – it’s a beautiful village which, alongside its surrounding vineyards, has been declared a unesco World Heritage site. Wander around its charming cobbled lanes coming across pretty squares and churches or discover the village’s underground catacombs. Visit its many vineyards and appreciate the breathtaking beauty around you.

Keen walkers can explore the many forests and hills of the region whilst cyclists have a range of paths to follow including part of the 'Canal des 2 Mers' trail between Bordeaux, Créon and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.

Wonderful stay at the Chateau. Kids loved the pool and the tennis court and great location for touring the region. And it looks just like a chateau should be with turrets, elegant rooms etc.

Chateau Des Amours was truly a magical place to visit! The chateau was very comfortable and provided a homey feeling with a warm fire on cool nights and morning coffee. The chateau is surrounded by beautiful countryside, a nearby vineyard to tour with tastings and picnic lunch. The location of the chateau made it easy to venture to visit nearby villages, wineries, and Bordeaux! The concierge provided a delicious breakfast each morning and made our stay so relaxing! Highly recommend the Chateau Des Amours!

Chateau Des Amours provided a perfect Bordeaux home for our family gathering. The chateau and surrounding vineyards are beautiful, and provided the perfect backdrop to a lovely stay in Bordeaux. Every day began with a fabulous breakfast, and ended with a glass of wine in front of the parlor fireplace. Additionally, we had two chef made multi-course dinners on the nights we chose to relax and stay home. It was all perfection.
