In the heart of the bustling village of Lauzun, just south of the Dordogne border in the picturesque Lot-et-Garonne, La Maison aux Cariatides enjoys an enviable setting in south-west France, only half an hour south of Bergerac and the Dordogne River. 

Step outside to discover the village's welcoming atmosphere, where everyday essentials are all within easy reach, including a bakery, butcher, pharmacy, bank, post office, café-bar-tabac and pizza restaurant. Just a short drive away, the attractive bastide town of Eymet (7km) offers an even wider choice of independent shops, restaurants and lively café terraces.

For further conveniences, Miramont-de-Guyenne (9.5km) has a large supermarket, a selection of shops and restaurants, as well as a popular Monday morning food market showcasing local produce. Castillonnès (12km) is another delightful nearby bastide town with additional dining options. Meanwhile, Issigeac (21km) is particularly renowned for its exceptional Sunday morning market where medieval streets fill with artisan stalls and local flavours. A little further afield, the officially recognised Plus Beaux Villages of Monflanquin (33km) and Monpazier (40km) are both well worth exploring for their beautifully preserved architecture, bustling markets and inviting cafés.

The surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities to embrace the outdoors. In addition to village tennis courts, there are three excellent golf courses within a leisurely 40-minute drive, including the highly regarded Golf du Château des Vigiers (27km). Horse riding and fishing can both be enjoyed within 15 minutes, while canoeing along the Dordogne River is around 40 minutes away. During the warmer months, the area comes alive with colourful night markets, medieval celebrations, food and wine festivals, and traditional village fêtes that perfectly capture the spirit of rural France.

History, gastronomy and world-class wine are all part of the local experience. Discover the impressive castles of Duras and Biron, or head towards Monbazillac, near Bergerac, where the celebrated sweet white wines of the region can be sampled alongside visits to historic estates. Bergerac itself also makes a rewarding day trip, with its charming old town, riverside setting and excellent restaurants.
