On the ground floor, two double bedrooms enjoy their own private ensuites, while the farmhouse-style kitchen, dining room and living space flow onto the terrace and garden. Upstairs, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom provide room for families or groups beneath the sloping ceilings. Maison Gounou is located in a small rural hamlet (the last house opening to countryside), just 4km from the enchanting bastide town of Monflanquin in the Lot-et-Garonne, not far from the Dordogne border.
Monflanquin, listed among France’s plus beaux villages, is a picture-perfect medieval town, renowned for its arcaded square, panoramic viewpoints and Thursday morning market that fills the cobbled streets with local produce and artisan goods. The village also boasts cafés, bakeries, restaurants and a well-stocked supermarket for everyday convenience. A short drive away, Villeréal (10km) offers further amenities and a beautiful timber-framed market hall at the centre of its own bastide charm.
Guests can explore the wider region with ease. The Dordogne's treasures, such as Monpazier and Issigeac (both acclaimed plus beaux villages as well) are within comfortable reach, offering a feast of architecture and history.
