This medieval gem invites you to explore cobbled streets lined with flower-bedecked houses, galleries, ancient ramparts and the iconic Mélusine Tower. The cottage is set on the main road leading to the village, a very short walk (no pavement) from the bridge and village centre. In the heart of Vouvant you will find delightful local amenities including a boulangerie, grocery store, café-bar and restaurants. Join one of the daily guided walks and immerse yourself in Vouvant’s rich history, with tales of legends woven through its architecture and landscape. Keen walkers can follow the hiking route near the village where you can cross La Mère river via the Bac à chaîne “vessel”.

Vouvant is perfectly placed for both convenience and discovery. A short 15-minute drive brings you to La Châtaigneraie (12.5km) with its shops, restaurants and supermarkets – this area is loved for its fishing opportunities and forest walks. Look out for the twice-weekly market in Fontenay-le-Comte (15km) and learn all about the town’s rich Renaissance heritage.

Even closer, yet more nature beckons in Mervent (8.5km) where you can glide along the tranquil waters by kayak or meet wildlife up close at the acclaimed Natur’Zoo de Mervent (9km), home to over 300 animals in a verdant setting.
