Further afield, the Mediterranean coastline at Hyères, with its golden beaches and sailing opportunities, lies around 70 minutes away. The cultural riches of Aix-en-Provence and the Riviera charm of Cassis are also potential days out.

For a dose of local history and spiritual calm, visit Abbaye du Thoronet, a masterpiece of Cistercian architecture nestled deep in the forest.
A little further afield, the Provençal towns of Lorgues (44km) and Vidauban (45km) are ideal for leisurely market days, while the Argens River offers opportunities for kayaking or simply relaxing by the water. Yet again, there are some marvellous wine-tasting opportunities here at famous vineyards such as Château Roubine and Château de Berne.
Alternatively, venture in the other direction to the majestic Montagne Sainte-Victoire, famously painted by Cézanne, and the elegant city of Aix-en-Provence (55km), just an hour away. Here, you can soak up Provençal culture with its cobbled streets, boutique shops and open-air cafés beneath plane trees
For a change of pace, plan a coastal day trip to the chic town of Saint-Tropez (75km), the pretty harbour at Cassis (56km) or the pretty beaches near Carqueiranne (46km), all easily reachable within 60 to 90 minutes.
