Across nearly two hectares of oak, lavender and olive trees, Maison Chênes Verts looks out towards the landscapes of the Luberon and even as far as Les Alpilles. Generous terraces, a landscaped garden and wide Provençal skies create a wonderful setting, while the house itself brings a contemporary sensibility to its rural surroundings.
Inside, light pours through large bay windows, connecting the living spaces with the garden beyond. Warm Provençal details soften the modern architecture, creating interiors that feel refined yet relaxed. On the ground floor, a TV lounge opens directly outside, while the dining room and fully equipped kitchen provide plenty of space for leisurely meals. Upstairs, the principal bedroom has a 180 cm bed, private terrace and bathroom with bathtub and shower. A second bedroom, with twin beds, also opens onto a terrace.
Linked to the main house by a covered outdoor walkway, the independent guest house gives families or groups additional privacy. Two double bedrooms open outdoors, accompanied by a shared shower room and compact kitchenette.
Days here naturally gravitate towards the terraces. The heated 11 metre swimming pool is joined by a shallow pool and surrounded by a spacious deck for stretching out beneath the Provençal sun. The covered terrace encourages long lunches and evening drinks, while white and green oaks, lavender and olive trees fill the grounds with the colours and scents of southern France.
Maison Chênes Verts lies north of Gordes, placing some of the Luberon's most celebrated villages within reach. Murs is around 5km away, whilst iconic Gordes is approximately 6km from the house, with its stone lanes, art galleries, Renaissance château and Tuesday morning market.
Ménerbes, Bonnieux, Roussillon and Oppède can be reached in around 20 to 30 minutes by car. Further afield, explore Fontaine de Vaucluse, browse the Sunday brocante in L'Isle sur la Sorgue, or venture towards Avignon and Saint Rémy de Provence.
For families and friends seeking space, privacy and glorious vistas of the landscapes of Provence, Maison Chênes Verts offers a beautiful setting in the Luberon.
Maison Chênes Verts enjoys a remote setting in the heart of the Luberon, surrounded by the stunning landscapes and wooded hills that make this corner of Provence so captivating. Located north Gordes, the house offers an enticing balance between countryside and easy access to some of the region’s most celebrated villages, markets and natural landscapes.
Begin in the picturesque hilltop village of Murs (5km), whose stone houses and medieval heritage sit amid the rugged scenery of the Monts de Vaucluse. Equally irresistible is Gordes (6km), one of Provence’s most iconic perched villages, where stone buildings tumble dramatically down the hillside. Wander its cobbled lanes, admire the Renaissance château and browse the Provençal market held on Tuesday mornings.
From Maison Chênes Verts you can also explore the Luberon’s other emblematic villages. Ménerbes, Bonnieux, Roussillon and Oppède are all around 20–30 minutes away by car, each with its own distinctive character. Discover the ochre-hued streets and famous ochre landscape of Roussillon, the far-reaching views and historic architecture of Bonnieux, or the atmospheric ruins of Oppède-le-Vieux. Ménerbes, meanwhile, crowns a rocky ridge above a landscape of vineyards and garrigue.
The Luberon region invites days spent outdoors, whether following walking and hiking trails through wooded hills and vineyards, seeking out lavender fields in season or visiting regional wine estates for tastings.
Around half an hour by car, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is known for its remarkable natural spring and hiking routes, while L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue offers another delightful excursion, famed for its waterways, Sunday morning brocante and Provençal atmosphere.
For a longer day out, the landscapes and lavender country around Sault lie roughly an hour away, as do Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and historic Avignon. With these celebrated destinations within reach, Maison Chênes Verts makes an inviting base for discovering Provence at an unhurried pace.
