Minimalist chic meets maximum impact in the newly built Villa Tharo, in the village of Agios Nikolaos, near the north coast of mainland Greece, on the Aegean Sea. This two-storey, detached villa has four spacious ensuite double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests, ideal for a family holiday, or friends’ get together. Villa Tharo is set on its own grounds, surrounded by ancient olive and sweet-scented pine trees. The villa has well maintained lawned gardens and a tiled terrace that is home to a private swimming pool.

The property comes with all the mod cons, including complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, ethernet connections, satellite TV in all the rooms,  and secure parking. The architect and designers have ensured the villa is fitted and dressed with only the very best of everything, from COCO-MAT mattresses to Westinghouse appliances. The villa is constructed out of traditional local stone, with floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors that open onto sea and mountain view terraces. The interiors are laid-back elegance, furnished with handcrafted contemporary pieces designed by the owners, and decorated in a soothing colour palette of natural earth tones.

Enter the villa at ground floor level where you will be welcomed by a light and airy open plan living space, with doors that give access to the sea view pool terrace. The seating area has a wood and dove grey sofa with matching chairs, coffee and side tables, and a 65” flat-screen television. The adjacent eight seater oak table is perfect for indoor entertaining. The Italian white lacquer kitchen is fully equipped with all integrated appliances which you will need to cater for your holiday, including the essential Nespresso coffee maker with pods, and a Greek coffee pot. The first of the four bedrooms can be found on this floor, with a double bed, a writing desk, a flat-screen television, an ensuite shower room, and access to the pool terrace, for those who like a swim before breakfast. A guest cloakroom and store cupboard complete the ground floor. Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find three similar ensuite bedrooms, one with a double bed, and two with twin beds.

Step outside onto the sea-view tiled terrace with a shaded veranda. Take a cooling dip in the step-entry, infinity swimming, and relax on the surrounding sun loungers. Enjoy morning coffee and evening cocktails at the shaded soft seating set. Take a walk around the Mediterranean-style gardens, with a manicured lawn. Cool off in the summer sun under the outside rain shower. As the sun sets meet at the eight seater dining set, perfectly positioned under the jasmine covered pergola, and feast alfresco with dishes freshly grilled on the charcoal grill, and raise of glass of local wine to the most memorable holiday.

Villa Tharo can be found nestled in the village of Agios Nikolaos, in the pine forests of Halkidiki, on the north coast of mainland Greece. The nearest international airport is at Thessaloniki, a ninety five kilometre drive through the Greek countryside to your holiday home. In the village of Agios Nikolaos, you will find provisions for your holiday, cafes, bars, and restaurants. The quaint resort has seafront tavernas, sailing and diving trips, and beach clubs for sunbathing by day, and dancing by night. The nearest beach is Mavrolitharo, only three hundred metres from the villa.

Agios Nikolaos is in Sithonia, the middle of the three Halkidiki peninsulas, and noted for its long white sandy beaches, and abundance of nature, most especially Ormos Panagias, Trani Ammounda, and Atki Salonikiou, with their turquoise sea and selection of watersports. The other two peninsulas are Cassandra, famous for its bustling resorts, and lively nightlife, and Athos, which is much quieter and home to the Eastern Orthodox monastery. The monastery of Mount Athos can only be viewed from the water, and only men may visit by arrangement at least six months in advance.

Island hop to the Drenia Isles, visit Stageria, the birthplace of Aristotle, and discover the cave of Petralona, and the marvellous mosaic floors of Olynthos. Sample homemade honey and local wines along the way. Visit Poligiros, the capital of Halkidiki, known for its nightlife and bars, and the Archeological and Folklore Museums. Travel further afield to the city of ancient Thessaloniki, and learn about the history and culture of the area in the Archeological and Byzantine Museums.
