Zakyththos or Zante as it is often called is one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands. One of the most famous sights and a must-visit is ‘The Shipwreck’, a magnificent real shipwreck on the secluded coast of St George. The wreck was discovered in 1980 and has become a major tourist attraction in its wild, beautiful landscape. There are frequent boat trips to the wreck.
The island offers breathtaking landscapes, exotic, sandy beaches, turquoise bays and a crazy nightlife. Many of the beaches, including Laganas, Tsilivi and Kalamaki, enjoy an excellent range of watersports. For those that love hiking and cycling, you will find many old footpaths leading to mountainous villages, monasteries and medieval towers. A visit by boat to the Keri Caves and Marathonisi, located at the bay of Lachana, is very popular. You will have the chance to swim or snorkel, meeting the famous Caretta turtles that swim in this natural environment. There are plenty of boat trips where you can explore the whole coastline. The island’s famous Blue Caves form one of the island’s most fascinating, natural attractions. They are of great geological interest and are located along the northwestern side of the island, beginning after Agios Nikolaos and ending near the Cape Schinari.
Zakynthos’ beaches are renowned for their beauty. One of the most popular is the sandy beach of Kalamaki. With fine, golden sand and shallow water, it is the ideal spot for families with young children. You can even horse ride on some beaches, how amazing is that? Keri Lighthouse is a magical spot to enjoy the colourful sunsets and magnificent views of the tall rocks.
In Zakynthos Town, Solomos Square is a focal spot with many restaurants and bars and the interesting Byzantine Museum and Cultural Centre. Bochali is a 2km stroll from the centre of Zakynthos Town. Its panoramic views of the pretty harbour are stunning as are those towards Argassi and the Bay of Laganas. You will discover charming, narrow alleys lined with traditional cafes and old houses. The castle at the top of the hill is well-maintained and a popular attraction. Delicious wines can be tasted and bought at Solomos Wines distillery. The cellars are very attractive and worth a visit.
Laganas is one of the two main tourist hotspots on Zakynthos, along with Zakynthos Town. Kalamaki is not far behind, though it is a little more laid-back. There is a good choice of restaurants at all of these resorts. The main street of Laganas runs along the lovely beachfront to Kalamaki. The 5km beach is wonderful with fine, silvery sand lined with sun loungers and parasols. Pedalos and boat trips are available to catch a glimpse of the protected Caretta turtles swimming around the bay. The beaches are part of the National Marine Park. The rare Caretta turtles lay their eggs in the sands of Gerakas, Dafni, Kalamaki, Marathonisi and Sakania, east of Laganas.
Agios Sostis is a charming, quaint coastal Greek village close to Laganas. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and was named after a 16th-century church dedicated to Saint Sostis. The village has a stunning backdrop of the mountains and a delightful beach. There are some waterfront, charismatic bars and restaurants where you will receive a very warm welcome. You can also hire a boat from Agios Sostis over to Marathonisi Island.

I don’t think I have all the words to explain just how wonderful this Villa is! From the moment we arrived in Zante we were treated like VIP’s. It was a surreal experience! The Villa is just simply STUNNING! I don’t think we will ever be able to top this accommodation! We are a well travelled family, and nothing compares! Roussa, the most wonderful host and now friend! Just was basically my personal PA whilst there, arranging transport, food, takeaways, recommendations, restaurant bookings, birthday party’s and more! She was wonderful, as-well as her beautiful daughters and lovely husband! Lida the cleaner worked so hard and was absolutely lovely always keeping the place perfect! We had 9 week old twins with us and Roussa was so accommodating for us with cots, nets, high chairs, bouncers, specific water safe for babies and more. When we arrived she had kindly done a food shop for us so everything we needed was there on arrival! Plus a lovely spread of food and desserts ready for us! The children loved the outdoor play area and basketball court, there was so much for them to do! We had the most beautiful night before we left where Roussa arranged birthday cakes, a Greek BBQ, Greek Dancers and gifts for us all, it was such an emotional beautiful evening that we will never forget. The sun setting behind the mountains every evening is out of this world, the beautiful pool, I cannot wait to return! We have not stopped talking about this dream holiday since returning, we would Highly recommend to anyone considering visiting, you will not be disappointed. Roussa, we will see you again soon :)

Where do I even begin!… We booked our wedding back in May2022 after meeting Roussa and her amazing family. We fell in love with the Villa and all of the family from the very beginning. It was the one and only venue we looked at and just knew it was the one! Roussa became a very special person from the moment we met her. Always at the end of the phone and helped arranging our wedding stress free and an absolute joy! We had our first baby with us who was 6 months old and Roussa went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for her. Showering her also with love and kindness. Roussa and Sakis go above and beyond to make your stay the most magical stay ever. The villa is equipped to the highest Standards with everything and more you would need during your stay. It is surrounded by olive gardens and pure bliss. But also very close to the local town of Tsilivi which we also fell in love with. There is so much to see and do on the island and the Villa is located so central to all of these places. Her housekeeper Lida is the most caring and sweetest lady. Always ensuring the villa is kept to the highest of standards. She really works so hard! Where do I even start with the wedding. It was the most magical day of our lives and everything and more we could have ever of dreamed off. Me and my bridesmaids was given the most amazing bridal breakfast, with the most incredible tasting food. Roussa and her daughter Victoria worked so hard at. Our wedding was amazing to say the least!! The new designed bar was a massive success. So authentic and like nothing I have ever seen before. The wedding was absolutely flawless and nothing at all could be faulted. A day all of our guests will remember forever in the most beautiful grounds. Our fairy lights made the villa feel like something out of a fairytale. It really Was stunning! As the sun went down our guests was amazing at the thousands of lights twinkling above them! The following day after the wedding Roussa helped to arrange a Hawaiian themed post wedding pool party/ BBQ. Another amazing day and Roussa and her family helped us to create so many more memories with our family And friends. Roussa and her family have become friends forever and will always hold such a special place in our hearts. Villa Bohali really is the most magical place on earth. I wish I could bottle it up as the worlds best kept secret but I wish for so many families to enjoy and make memories just as we did.
