In the southern Rhodes village of Lakhania, this glorious 2-bedroom villa provides an exceptional holiday home. With uninterrupted views of the Aegean, Lakhania Pounentis lies less than 1km from Gennadi Beach and features a spacious pool and terrace.
This villa’s stylish outdoor areas include space to dine, alongside a barbecue, and relaxed seating. You can enjoy Rhodes’ reliably sunny weather on a selection of sun loungers found beside the pool, then step right inside.
The open-plan living areas enjoy magnificent sea views and lots of natural light. With direct access to the terrace, you have a lounge, dining area and kitchen. The comfy lounge is equipped with satellite TV and sofa seating, while the dining table provides seating six. In the kitchen you’ll find all the equipment and appliances you need, including a dishwasher, fridge freezer and coffee machine.
Two double bedrooms also open out onto the outdoor space. With an en suite bathroom with shower, each one is superbly styled. The sofa-bed in the lounge can accommodate two more guests, giving Lakhania Pounentis a capacity of six. Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and onsite parking are all provided at the property.
Nearby, the rural village of Lakhania has a few restaurants offering Greek and Italian food, as well as a small supermarket. You can find more amenities in Gennadi, where there is a long, pebbly beach which offers lots of space to sunbathe or just hang out. In summer, there are regular beach parties on Sundays with DJs providing the soundtrack from the beachside bars.
Rhodes is the perfect place to experience the beautiful Greek islands. Full of wonderful countryside, intriguing old buildings and countless amazing beaches, you will never stop discovering something new.
Don’t miss the Old Town in Rhodes – it’s one of the largest and best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. If you fancy uncovering some local history, try the Archaeological Museum, located at The Palace of the Grand Masters. This huge palace is the main attraction of a unesco World Heritage site, and often hosts events and performances. You can also take a tour of part of the building.
The city is a great place for shopping and dining, and its other attractions include the Museum of Modern Greek Art, the Marine Aquarium located by Elli Beach, and the pretty Rodini Park. It’s also the centre of the island’s nightlife scene, with a huge casino, cinemas and countless bars and clubs. If the strip on Orfanidou Street doesn’t deliver what you’re looking for, you might feel more at home in sophisticated Lindos.
Somewhere else with a reputation for lively nightlife, Faliraki lies just down the eastern coast from Rhodes town. It’s not all about hedonism, though – the resort offers good family attractions too. The large beach is very popular, and there are water-parks and a go-karting track. The idyllic Anthony Quinn Bay, a pretty beach with crystal clear waters, is a lovely chillout spot if it all gets too much.
Rhodes has many more beaches down the eastern coast, such as Kolymbia, Agathi and the highly rated Tsampika. One of the most spectacular, Prasonisi, is found right at the tip of the island, and is the go-to beach for lovers of surfing and kite-surfing. Rhodes is ideal for all sorts of sports – there are golf courses, tennis courts and scuba-diving centres, along with opportunities to play beach volleyball and much more. Excellent walking and cycling routes offer more reasons to enjoy the great outdoors.
Making the climb to the clifftop Lindos Acropolis will take you about 20 minutes from the village, but it’s well worth the effort – you won’t forget the incredible views it enjoys from its vantage point. Look down to the village and you may spot some of Lindos’ many rooftop terraces, which are the ideal place to reward yourself with dinner afterwards.
Lastly, be sure to visit The Valley of the Butterflies – one of Rhodes’ best-loved attractions. It’s magical in summer when the hordes of colourful butterflies emerge into the valley. About 35 minutes’ drive from here, there are also the waterfalls of the Epta Piges (Seven Springs), another of Rhodes’ natural wonders.
