On entering the cottage, there is a well-equipped kitchen to your right, with a solid fuel stove where you can prepare sumptuous meals to be enjoyed in the dining room, which has enough places for the whole group to sit together and enjoy each other’s company. Relax in the cosy sitting room, which has another stove, perfect for warming yourself up after a long day exploring and planning activities for the following day. There are three lovely bedrooms, one of which is a family room with an en-suite shower, basin and WC. The external door in the kitchen will take you out to the patio area at the rear of the property, where you will find a barbecue and a picnic bench waiting to be used on long summer evenings. This spot is excellent for enjoying a drink in, while the day fades and the kids run around in the garden. Set in the Irish countryside, with beautiful views and lots of charm, this cottage is ideal for those who love the outdoors and like to walk and fish, plus should you find yourself in the country pub across the road, it’s only a short walk home again. Just a short drive up the road you will find Carrick-on-Shannon, where you can appreciate the fascinating local history with a tour of the town's landmarks, such as the ruins of Carrick Castle. Enjoy a round of golf at the Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club, or enjoy a leisurely cruise on Moon River. The lively Carrick Water Music Festival takes places every July and there is lots to do to keep the family occupied all year round! For a great day out, head to Lough Key Forest Park and try out the Zipit treetop ropes adventure course, or visit King House and explore this wonderfully restored Georgian Manor House, full of life-size historical figures and family activities. You are not far from the counties of Leitrim and Sligo too, making the cottage a fantastic base for exploring the charm of Ireland's countryside and stunning lakes and mountains, which are waiting to be explored. Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland's loveliest riverside town, is the county town of Leitrim, and is nestled on the most scenic stretch of the River Shannon. Internationally regarded as an angler's paradise, Carrick has hosted many national and international fishing competitions, and within a 6 mile radius, there are no less than 41 fishing lakes to enjoy. Take a walking tour of Carrick's history, enjoying a guide to the landmarks of the town, see the plaque dedicated to the famous English novelist Anthony Trollope, or visit the remains of Carrick Castle.
