About this property

This spacious, family-friendly bungalow lies just a stone’s throw from the village of Carraroe, an Irish speaking village, in the heart of south Connemara in County Galway. This detached cottage is in an ideal location for exploring this lovely part of Ireland, offering holidaymakers a true slice of Irish living. Boasting a variety of bedrooms throughout to cater for many party types, this delightful cottage has been lovingly decorated and tastefully finished. There is a large kitchen and dining area, fully-equipped for all your culinary needs, so you can enjoy delicious meals with friends and family. After a day exploring the raw beauty that is Connemara, you can curl up in front of a roaring fire in the cosy sitting room. To the front of the cottage, lie glorious views of the bay and a lawned garden where the children can play safely. Carraroe is home to a well-stocked local supermarket and deli, along with a selection of traditional pubs where you can truly immerse yourself in Irish culture, with a spot of live music and a crash course in the local language! Carraroe is nestled between two bays, Casla Bay and Greatman’s Bay and is well-known for its traditional Irish fishing boats known as Galway Hookers. The surrounding islands, Lettermore, Lettermullen and Gorumna offer peaceful, unspoilt scenery to enjoy whether on foot or by bike. The entire region is a haven of untouched rugged beauty with sheltered coves, deserted sandy beaches and wild nature, so why not hop on your bike and see what makes this part of Ireland so attractive to visitors? You will be sure to meet some local Connemara ponies along the way! Further afield, and well worth a visit, are the cobbled streets of Galway, Kylemore Abbey and Gardens and the Connemara National Park. For a true Irish experience, this spacious cottage will not disappoint!

Carraroe is a small village situated close to the coast within the Connemara region on the western tip of County Galway, and offers a selection of shops and pubs.

The home was very clean when we arrived and perfectly suited our needs for the visit. Mary Theresa came shortly after we arrived to talk us through some bits although I found it unusual not to have a binder or welcome pack explaining where to find things or things to do in the local area, I think this would be helpful. This also meant we were unclear in the expectations when we left such as stripping beds etc. The decoration in the home is a little dated and whilst clean some parts of fixtures and fittings are broken ( wardrobe doors etc) although this doesn’t really affect a short term stay. One of my sisters struggled with a very lumpy mattress too! The house is in a good location for day trips out, and there is a shop and a pub a short walk away. There are beautiful views over the lake and a lovely coral beach a short drive away. Overall a nice house for a short stay in Galway

The property is well stocked with all modern appliances. Beautiful view with the Coral Beach just down the road. Loved our time and would surely recommend.

It is a beautiful home with a well laid out kitchen, spacious living area and the view sitting outside looks onto Galway Bay. I highly recommend this as a place to stay and experience the delights of the Connemara.
