Cloghane is a coastal village in County Kerry and boasts some breathtaking countryside and sea views. Mount Brandon is ideal for walkers and there are many beaches nearby. Dingle is only ten miles away and offers shops, pubs and restaurants.

Four bedrooms: 1 x ground floor double with mountain views, 1 x ground floor double, 2 x family rooms with 1 double, 1 single bed and mountain views.

Oil central heating with underfloor heating on the ground floor, open fire in sitting area and portable electric fan heater.

First €20 of oil included in rent (€10 for shorter breaks), remainder charged by meter reading, electricity and starter pack for open fire included in rent.

Dirty windows , dirty oven and toaster , unhoovered floor mats , filthy curtains on patio doors , which we were informed by email enroute [ by owner ]that were not to be opened due to some problem or other , dirty fabric on kitchen chairs , dirty cooker extractor . Were told by cleaner / caretaker that hoover was broken . Small freezer had about 4 inches of frost . Water leaked in through kitchen ceiling on 2 occasions ie Wedn and Fri [ at this point we decided to leave and head for home . Rusty microwave , a pint glass filled with dead flowers and foliage . No smoke alarm upstairs , I could go on and on and on . Many of the above issues have been mentioned in reviews as far back as 2019 . We were not looking for luxury or grandeur , but my God basic cleanliness is to be expected . This is the 1st time we feel totally let down and offended to be presented with such a premises , which had obviously not been cleaned for quite some time despite the owner stating that he and his sons had been there some days previous . The caretaker arrived on Sun morning with half dz eggs by way of compensation accompanied by her 2 young children [ by the way was a lovely friendly person ] I await a response from whoever .

. The garden around it is great and the views are beautiful- its a treat to sit out and watch the weather over the mountains. A few niggles - The downstairs bathroom is difficult to use as a shower room as the shower is not separated from toilet and sink so the water goes everywhere - we'd booked the house partly to have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for one of our party with mobility issues. The living space is nice and big - but it would be nice to have matching chairs for the table, and another sofa rather than armchairs. It wasn't completely clean when we arrived (2 bins and a table top were missed), but I know there was a temporary cleaner on this occasion so it is probably a one off issue.

The shower head was difficult to use as the water was running out under the door and soaking the passage way outside. It would be useful to but some sort of lip to prevent this. Otherwise the accommodation was great. Very private and remote which is why we enjoyed it.
