Guests say

Lovers' Lodge in Kilkenny receives praise for its spaciousness, comfort, and welcoming touches such as festive decorations and scones on arrival. The property is appreciated for its proximity to local amenities and the town centre, though some guests noted it was a longer walk than expected. While many found the cottage clean and well-equipped, a few raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance issues.

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be clean and tidy, while others reported issues with dust, dirty cookware, and unemptied bins. The positive comments suggest good general standards, but the negative feedback indicates room for improvement.

The location is generally well-regarded, with guests appreciating the proximity to Kilkenny City and local shops. Some guests felt the walk to the town centre was longer than advertised, but the property's location is still considered convenient for exploring the area.

Guests frequently compliment the comfort of the property, mentioning comfortable beds and a cosy wood-burning fire. The spaciousness and homely feel contribute to a comfortable stay, although there were some concerns about noise levels and a smelly bathroom.

Facilities are generally seen as adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample bathrooms. However, some guests noted maintenance issues such as broken furniture and poor shower pressure. The lack of Wi-Fi and limited TV channels were also points of contention for some.

Many guests felt well taken care of, mentioning the thoughtful touches like scones, cakes, and decorations. These gestures were highly appreciated, although it should be noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.

Plenty of others available around. I’m a nômade in Ireland since March/24, meaning I stay in holiday homes a week at time so I’m experienced in using this service. We had issues with this house as soon as we got in it. Like no bin liner, no dish washer, not enough toilet paper for the week, chair arm broke, oven lose, very dirty tap water and electric failed. The house is lovely and comfortable however the owner seems not want to help and doubted what we were saying and coming across rude. You don’t expect to have to deal with these issues when going to a holiday home. Save yourself the hassle.

It is immaculate and very comfortable and the owner is very very accommodating. We will be back again in the future

Chocolates we’re a nice touch. Bin had not been emptied by previous occupants. The light in main bathroom doesn’t work neither does one of the landing lights - making the trip upstairs tricky in the dark. One of the arms of the rocking chair in kitchen is broken. The hob & oven could do with a deep clean as could the bathrooms. A bit alarmed to see that if the bottled gas runs out you are expected to purchase & fit a new one! Put me right off using it. Bedding is a very personal choice but both the duvets we used were heavy & cumbersome. The weather was amazing so walked everywhere including the nature reserve opposite. Ate out a lot - recommend The Orchard House up the road. Also recommend Dunmore Caves if you fancy a trip out of Kilkenny. Kilkenny itself is lovely - there a number of walks you can do. Also recommend the Smithwicks tour, The castle & St. Canice cathedral were both well worth a visit.
