Be charmed by the bright and airy decor of the open-plan living/dining room, flooded with light welcomed in through the towering windows and home to a sumptuous corner sofa gathered in front of a warming woodburning stove; here you can look forward to gathering together to catch up on your favourite show on the Smart TV following a hearty meal enjoyed at the dining table. Continuing through, discover the well-equipped kitchen, fitted with all of the essentials to assist with your self-catering needs, including a handy washing machine and dishwasher to help keep your space neat and tidy! In the summer months, make meal times an alfresco affair with a sociable seat on your private patio, where you can relish in the tranquil setting of the mature shrubbery as you toast a glass of fizz to an unforgettable holiday. When day draws to night, retreat indoors and retire to one of three well-presented bedrooms, with the choice between two double bedrooms or a twin, all positioned within easy reach of the family shower room, ideal for guests with limited mobility. Get better acquainted with your surroundings and take the scenic stroll into the heart of the village of Duncannon, where little ones can burn off some steam at the outdoor playground, or paddle the shores amongst the sands of Duncannon Beach. After working up an appetite, enjoy a bite to eat and indulge in the catch of the day with a visit to The Strand Tavern, or fuel your excursions with a steaming cup of coffee and a tasty homemade treat at the Wild Rose Cafe. For a wider selection of choice, head to the village of Ramsgrange, where you can enjoy a spot of pub grub served alongside a traditional pint of Guinness at The Sportsman's Inn, pick up a delicious takeaway or stock up on last-minute ingredients from the village shop to enjoy from the comfort of your holiday home. Immerse yourself in local history with a tour of Ballyhack Castle, a 15th century tower house overlooking the waters of the Waterford estuary, or embark on an adventure atop the waters with a heritage boat ride. The extensive grounds of the Colclough Walled Garden are well worth a visit, restored from a 17th century Georgian garden and split into an ornamental and kitchen garden, providing a truly tranquil setting to enjoy a stroll through the vibrant, well-kept shrubbery. Finally, plan ahead and visit the Kennedy Homestead, birthplace of President John F Kennedy’s great-grandfather Patrick Kennedy, and celebrate the story of five generations of the Kennedy dynasty on land that is farmed by his descendants to this day. Tour the delights of Ireland with a stay at Newtown Lodge.

The picturesque fishing village of Duncannon is situated in southwest County Wexford, and is dominated by Duncannon Fort, which sits on a rocky outcrop jutting into the channel. Waterford Harbour lies to the west and the golden sandy beach is popular for swimming and sunbathing. The International Sand Sculpting Festival is a village highlight each year. With a couple of pubs and restaurants and a children’s playground by the beach, Duncannon is a lovely place for a quiet seaside holiday. Catch a ferry to the beaches and watersports of Dunmore East, shop for traditional crystal in Waterford, enjoy the music of Wexford Festival Opera each October or explore some of the historic houses, beautiful gardens and lovely walks in this wonderful part of Ireland. Lots of space for the 4 of us. Ann and Ciaran were very welcoming. The scones, cakes, crisps and milk left for us were a nice surprise. As were the delicious strawberries that Ann brought round later in the week. We loved Duncannon Beach and Off the Hook for their huge ice cream and fish and chips. We wished the weather had been better for us to spend more time in the garden! The Wi-fi was being updated while we were there and the only thing I mentioned to the owners was that the shower curtain was a bit flimsy. We would definitely recommend your property to others. A lovely base to explore the area. Thanks for a great week.
