Fethard-on-Sea is close to the Hook Peninsula, in County Wexford. It has a fascinating history, including the 1914 lifeboat tragedy and the Fethard-on-Sea Boycott, which has been immortalised in print and on film. Today this quiet fishing village offers sandy beaches, shops and pubs. The Hook Peninsula is popular with visitors due to its ancient lighthouse, multitude of beaches and a variety of watersports, such as diving, snorkelling and shore angling.

It's comfortable with a wood burning stove. Two points I'd bring to your attention. The cooker did not work well and is dated. Not too expensive to replace. The shower is not fit for purpose. Being systematically roasted and freezing is not acceptable. Again something that can be easily fixed. Other than that we enjoyed the holiday and the friendly people of Fethard.

Also the floor was dirty and a lot of the surfaces were sticky to the touch. Not a patch on other Sykes cottages we have stayed at.

Nice private garden to back that provides suntrap. Great location within walking distance to shops and bars in village. Owner was lovely and very helpful. Only negative was the apartment could have done with a good dusting and clean, as lots of spiderwebs on walls and ceilings and floors left feet black. Luckily a hoover and mop were provided, so was able to clean as required.
