About this property

Situated in the heart of Rathdangan, this picturesque and rural hamlet near the village of Kiltegan in County Wicklow, is a delightful large stone-built, semi-detached house original owned and built by the renowned Irish architect William White (Humewood Castle 1870). Superbly presented and finished throughout, this property was once a public house and original features still remain today including kitchen tiles and a fireplace. Offering four spacious and stylish bedrooms, the cottage is the perfect base for families and friends with a wealth of rich Irish scenery and attractions within easy reach. The large kitchen exudes style with a Belfast sink, breakfast bar and bright dining area which looks out to the rear courtyard and can be accessed by French doors. There are two cosy sitting rooms, one of which is complemented by a woodburning stove making it the perfect little nook to cuddle up with a good book and a glass of wine. To the rear is a large courtyard garden including a separate walled garden that provides a set of swings so the kids can play safely whilst you relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this glorious region. The hamlet of Rathdangan is nestled beneath the highest of the Wicklow Hills and offers walkers and cyclists a paradise of rural country roads, hills and forests to discover either by foot or wheel. Just a short drive away is the village of Kiltegan, home to Humewood Castle, an impressive fantasy mansion which dates back to 1870. Also close by is the heritage town of Baltinglass, which is rich in archaeological and historical sites including a monastery dating back to 700 A.D. Activities available nearby include golf, fishing and cycling. Why not visit the lakes at Glendalough, one of Ireland’s most photographed locations or visit the delightful Avoca Woollen Mills? A fantastic location to explore the Garden of Ireland.

The small village of Kiltegan in south-west County Wicklow is home to a shop and pub, and is only 15 minutes' drive from the heritage town of Baltinglass, and within easy travelling distance of Wicklow Mountains National Park and Dublin city. Historic Baltinglass boasts an Abbey open to visitors, and seven hill forts, which are well worth exploring, whilst its lovely location on the edge of the River Slaney, means Baltinglass affords great salmon and trout fishing.
