About this property

Rosscarbery 1.8 miles. Settled in Ballyoughtera near Rosscarbery is this fantastic, detached house of Gleann Ghrianmhar. A wonderful base for a family of six's getaway, Gleann Ghrianmhar enjoys lovely views of the peaceful surroundings, alongside pet-friendly accommodation! After parking in the off-road spaces outside, make your way inside to find a spacious kitchen/diner that is well-equipped for your self-catering stay, from great cooking facilities to laundry appliances. Once the aspiring chef of the group has fixed up a delectable dinner here, it can be enjoyed at the six-seater dining table over a glass of wine. After dinner, retreat to one of the two sitting rooms, both of which offer TVs and leather sofas, and one of which enjoys the charming touch of a toasty fire. At the end of the day, ascend the stairs to find four fabulously decorated bedrooms, two of which host singles, another offering a double with a handy basin, and the latter comprising a master bedroom with a king-size. The family bathroom can be found on this floor, too, with slate tiles adorning the floor, and a bath offering a relaxing soak at the start or end of the day! The property also benefits from an enclosed garden, so your canine companions can safely stretch their legs outside. Drive a short way into Rosscarbery, a welcoming town with a fantastic leisure centre, where you can try your hand at watersports on the lagoon before tucking into a hearty meal at Nolan's or The Landmark Restaurant & Coffee House. For some fun on the coast, be sure to travel south to Warren Beach, where a set of idyllic sands, the Rosscarbery Pitch and Putt Club and the quaint Rosscarbery Pier await. Why not visit Long Strand, home to another lovely beach, along with access to Castle Freke and the fascinating Galley head Lighthouse? The delights of Clonakilty and Skibbereen are within easy reach, offering even more to see and experience. A brilliant stay awaits at Gleann Ghrianmhar.

Rosscarbery is an outstanding holiday destination, lying at the head of a tidal inlet approximately a mile inland from the sea and halfway between Skibbereen and Clonakilty. This tranquil rural town, which dates back to the 6th century, was once one of the main European towns and was famous as a centre of study, having previously been a university town. It now has a significantly lower population and enjoys a great laid-back and calm ambiance.

The cottage was a great size with plenty of room although there was only 4 of us so good for us . Nice location but you do need a car. Overall I would recommend the cottage . The weather was kind to us so that also was a bonus

Cooker was full of grease and very dirty. Holiday stated good walks for dog we were quite near a very busy main road plus road to other property’s very busy,no hover to clean floors only a brush Garden unsecured for dogs as fence broken no bins for dog waste. No light in downstairs toilet very dirty,Taps dripping in every hand basin, each basin was cracked.

More importantly, it does not show the derelict outhouse/barn?? adjacent to the property which, whilst an eyesore, more importantly needs to be managed. The corrugated roof gas collapsed in large sections, but some panels remain and are very loose. During windy conditions, these flapped around and constantly banged. This disturbed us during the evening and nights, but also concerned us about possible damage should they break and get caught by the wind. The kitchen had plenty of crockery and cutlery, but would benefit from a refresh of the cooking equipment, pots and pans. Sofas were comfortable, but tired (well used). Beds were comfortable. In looking for an electric socket by the bedside to charge our phones at night, the extension lead which was actually a surface mounted double socket lying on the floor under the bed was completely shattered, exposing the internal wiring. This had the bedside lights connected, but clearly unsafe for clients to use. The downstairs loo had no lights, so could not be used when dark. Whilst we were met by the owner on arrival and given a tour of the property, there was no house book that we could find for instructions. Overall, a disappointing stay.
