A peaceful getaway perfect for couples or small families, this charming lodge in West Cork is set down a long, quiet, rural road, offering guests the chance to completely unwind and recharge without distractions. Just 4 miles away, the coastal village of Ballydehob, renowned for its creative community, traditional music and regular festivals, has a variety of shops, pubs (often with live music) and excellent places to eat, including a Michelin-star restaurant. Ballydehob is known as the gateway to the scenic Mizen Peninsula. From the lodge, it’s a 22.5-mile trip to Mizen Head, Ireland’s most south-westerly point, where you’ll be awed by the panoramic views of sea cliffs and crashing waves. Drive 14 miles and you’ll reach the bustling market town of Skibereen, where colourful streets are lined with independent shops and a variety of bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Enter the lodge to find a well-planned kitchen, where cooks will find all the equipment they’ll need to conjure up quick snacks and tasty meals. The welcoming lounge/diner includes soft seating, perfect for quiet nights in after long days exploring the area, whether you want to read, listen to music, play a game or watch the TV. A dining table for four in one corner invites everyone to linger over sociable meals. Two smartly decorated bedrooms, a double and a twin, feature high, sloping ceilings and pretty linens, inviting you to enjoy a dreamy night’s sleep. They share a sleek shower room with a corner shower.
On warm days, step up onto the raised deck at the front of the property, where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Light the BBQ and dine alfresco, or sip a sundowner as you watch the stars come out. Another bonus of this lovely hideaway is private parking for one car.
