About this property

Nestled at the centre of Ardara, a charming seaside village in County Donegal, rests the quaint, three-bedroom holiday home of Owen Tucker View House. With designated parking for one car, an enclosed lawned garden, and a collection of well-appointed living areas, this delightful property welcomes a family or group of six, along with one well-behaved dog, for a relaxing, fuss-free stay just a short car journey east of the Crocknamurrin Mountain Bog nature reserve. Step into your lovely new home-from-home and make yourself comfortable by getting to work in the fully-equipped kitchen/diner, housing all the appliances you’ll need to rustle up a delicious home-cooked dinner. Savour your meals together at the dining table, which seats six, before you retreat to the sitting room to gather, enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage, and plan the rest of your trip. When sleep calls, head upstairs to refresh with a revitalising shower or a soak in the bath before you finally catch your rest in one of the three inviting bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a double bed and accompanying en-suite shower. When you’re ready, head out to explore your local area. A walk into the heart of Ardara will bring you to your nearest convenience store and supermarket, where you can stock up on essentials, whilst a hearty pub lunch can be had at Nancy's, a bar popular with locals and tourists alike. During your stay, be sure to pay a visit to the nearby scenic point of St John’s Pier, which looks out upon the idyllic bay. Further afield, jump in the car to explore nearby landmarks and attractions, whether that’s the awe-striking locale of the Glengesh Viewing Point, the brilliant Sheskinmore Nature Reserve Park, the breathtaking Assaranca Waterfall, or the magnificent Caves of Maghera. For a full day out, drive west along the coast until you reach the setting of Glencolumbkille, where you can spend an afternoon picnicking or sunbathing on the stretch of Glencolumbkille Beach, brush up on local history at the Glencolmcille Folk Village, or even enjoy a spot of fishing or crabbing at the Lug na druan Pier. Make your next stay in County Donegal unforgettable by booking Owen Tucker View House.

Ardara, voted by The Irish Times as one of the 'best villages to live in' in 2012, is one of the most attractive towns in Donegal, set in a wide valley where the Owentocher River enters Loughros More Bay. Visitors can enjoy the many craft and gift shops, together with the traditional Irish pubs. There are many brown trout lakes in the area for budding fisherman, or why not discover the nearby caves and falls of Maghera? Enjoy walking the magnificent Glengesh Pass, with spectacular views over the Atlantic from Loughros Point. Every March, the village hosts a successful walking festival with walkers coming from all over the world, while May boasts the annual “Cup of Tae” traditional music festival. Donegal town, 17 miles away, is situated at the mouth of Donegal Bay, on the River Eske, and is overshadowed by the Bluestack Mountains, which provide a great base for hill walking. With Donegal Castle, and the remains of a Franciscan Abbey which dates back to the 15th century, there is plenty of Irish history to absorb. There is a horse riding centre just one mile away, great golfing opportunities nearby, with a magnificent links course open for players of all abilities just seven miles away, and five miles away is Killybegs Sea Angling, where a competition is held on the first Saturday in May and September each year, along with the Killybegs International Sea Angling Festival, which is a two day event on the second weekend in July. Also 20 miles away is the wonderful Slieve League mountain, which has a height of 601 metres (1972 feet) and is situated on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal. With its sandy beaches offering good surfing conditions, restaurants, shops and pubs, this is the perfect base for an Irish break.

The location is perfect, just round the corner from some great pubs, restaurants, cafe's and a shop, and the the perfect place for exploring West Donegal. The hosts Michelle and Pat are really supportive and helpful, and respond straight away to any requests. We would definitely return.
