On the northernmost point of the County Donegal coast, the settlement of Gortahork is becoming a more well-liked surfing and trekking destination. The region has a number of lovely beaches, and the village hosts the annual Samhain International Poetry Festival. With 16,000 acres, Glenveagh National Park is a walkers' paradise and is easily reachable from Gortahork. In 1980, the well-known artist Derek Hill left his home, gallery, and art collection to the country. The property also includes the Glebe Gallery and Tea Rooms, which regularly stages exhibitions. Visit the neighbouring Bunbeag, which has a spa and swimming pool, or the An Chuirt Hotel, which is located at the base of the Errigal Mountain and has a health club and spa of its own. Arranmore, Cruit Island, and Owey Island may all be visited from Gortahork by chartering a boat. Island hopping is enjoyable for the whole family. Although Cruit Island is easily accessible by car thanks to a bridge connecting it to the mainland, renting a boat is considerably more fun! The nearby town of Dungloe, which is known for its excellent fishing, hosts the yearly "Mary From Dungloe" event. This is a fantastic location and a terrific home base for exploring the region.

The size off this house took us while to get used too (you could do your morning jog up the hallway) this house has everything you need to enjoy your stay all really good appliances. The views over looking bay you would never get bored off.The area where house is situated is prefect quite location but yet only two minutes drive to good local shop and beaches.. would definitely stay again (only small issue kitchen could do with clock partner nearly burnt christmas dinner only joking) phil and Andrea

It felt like home, and the host made sure everything is in place for our comfort. Very close distance to shops, although for bigger ones Letterkenny is the closest town. The house is very warm, no need for extra blankets. The few remarks I would have that the double bed in the small room is too small for 2 people’s comfortable sleep and that the duvets were heavy and too warm. Also, the internet is quite weak, even near the source. For 2 people working at the same time it was a bit of a struggle. But we had very good mobile coverage which helped. And the last remark is that the host asked to put out the bin for collection on the scheduled time - this was a bit of surprise for us since we haven’t had a similar situation. We were also asked to put our towels to wash before leaving - again, nothing similar happened to us before. Maybe this is a normal practice somewhere, but it wasn’t mentioned in the ad. Other than above mentioned, we enjoined our stay!

Private location with great views. Gortahork a short walk away with a eurospar which covered any groceries required and pub with friendly staff and locals that made you feel welcome. No shortage of beautiful beaches in the area for taking the dog for walks. Look forward to getting back here again.
