This region is filled with olive groves so typical of Salento and this area also used to specialise in sea-salt; there’s a lovely walk to the sea following the path that workers used to use.
This part of the coastline is stunning with rocky ledges and picture-perfect coves leading to crystal-clear water, ideal for snorkelling and swimming. Look out for boat trips from marinas along the coast giving tours of the stunning coves that are dotted along this coastline. For a change of scene, head west towards the Ionian coast where you will find long stretches of sandy beaches such as Marina di Pescoluse, only half an hour away and known to be the Maldives of Italy.
