Casa Leonardo is a beautifully restored 19th-century home in the heart of southern Salento, Puglia, offering a blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. Set within private gardens, this villa accommodates up to nine guests across four bedrooms and four bathrooms, including a separate annexe. The property seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor living, providing a serene and stylish retreat.
The gardens are immaculately landscaped, featuring a covered veranda adorned with white cotton curtains, perfect for evening drinks or breakfast after a swim in the private pool. A brick-built outdoor kitchen and oven create an inviting space for alfresco dining, while stone banquettes with marina blue cushions and lanterns add to the charm. Lush lawns dotted with palm trees and greenery provide plenty of space for relaxation and activities.
Inside, the villa exudes a cosy, rustic elegance with a Scandinavian-inspired design. The living and dining area features a large table for eight, a television corner, and an original fireplace. The kitchen maintains its authentic character, with exposed stone walls, timber doors, and a pastel blue Smeg fridge, all enhancing the home’s warm and inviting atmosphere.
Just a five-minute drive from the coast, Casa Leonardo is ideally located for exploring the stunning beaches of Puglia, including Torre Suda and Baia Verde. The nearby towns of Taviano and Gallipoli, known for their rich history and vibrant dining scene, are perfect for day trips. Casa Leonardo offers a unique blend of relaxation and exploration in a private, tranquil setting.
Casa Leonardo is nestled just a five-minute drive from the coast, just south of Gallipoli, in Puglia, the “heel” of Italy.
There are many restaurants towards the coast and also some excellent choices in the historic town of Taviano, only 4km away. Admire the beautiful architecture and this town full of history and be sure to try some of the local Salento wine that this area is well known for.
The nearby coastline (1.5km) offers crystal-clear waters and a rocky coastline, ideal for snorkelling as well as swimming. Further north, there are sandier beaches and longer stretches, including the wonderful Baia Verde (15km), just south of Gallipoli, where you will find clear shallow waters which are ideal for children as well as great nightlife as the day draws to a close.
Gallipoli (16km), meaning beautiful city in Greek is a summer escape known for being surround by water on all sides, with a longstanding fishing history and seafood featuring heavily in the cuisine. The centro storico is stunningly pretty, with winding alleyways, artisan boutiques and endless eateries.
Around forty minutes south, visitors will reach Santa Maria di Leuca (38km), Puglia's southern-most tip, where you can watch the boats in the marina or even take a trip out to see local caves along the dramatic coastline.
Other noteworthy places to visit include Specchia (28km), one of Italy's prettiest villages as well as the great city of Lecce with its great shops and well as historic sights.
The region is known for its olive oil production, as evidenced by the surrounding stretches of olive groves as well as its distinctive white-washed hill towns, centuries old farmland and kilometres of Mediterranean coastline.

We spent a week at the end of October/beginning of November with two families in this villa and we highly recommend it. it has 4 bedrooms, three of which have double beds and one with two bunk beds, and 4 bathrooms (very practical for a large group). The traditional structure has been superbly renovated and extended, with great attention to detail and materials. the kitchen is fully equipped, and the patio also has an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue area. the garden is very beautiful and very well maintained (the lawn is incredible!). the swimming pool was well appreciated by young and old alike. as the nights were not cool, we did not need heating, even this late in the year. our contact, Antonio, was very attentive. thanks again !!

The accommodation was fantastic and Antonio was friendly and always available if you had any questions. The rooms were nice, you should just be careful that a double room and the room with the loft beds do not have a door. The pool and sunbeds were beautiful and we sat on the terrace every day to eat.

Beautiful villa with spacious outdoor terrace and gardens. Lovely pool. Warm welcome from the owner. The only disappointment was that even though it was technically within walking distance of a beach and restaurants, as per the description, the busy unlit roads with no pavement meant it was hazardous to attempt to walk there and a car was essential.
